Vintun is seeking a forward-thinking Accounting/Audit Consultant to join our team in support of our Army Materiel Command (AMC)/United States Army Environmental Command (USAEC) contract, supporting tasks in the areas of audit response and remediation, financial management, business process improvement, internal control management, and SAP based system of record relating to environmental and disposal liabilities (E&DL) audit readiness initiatives. The potential candidate should have experience in supporting both financial management and DoD audit readiness initiatives. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to challenging and changing situations quickly while being able to facilitate the completion of multiple tasks and assignments. The candidate must own and maintain relationships and communicate with key client personnel to enhance the understanding of business operations, processes, and functions. The candidate must be able to effectively report status to engagement team leadership, while demonstrating ownership and accountability for assigned task areas and work products. This Position is 100% Remote Telework. What will you do?

  • Assist with Notice of Finding and Recommendation (NFR) response and the development and implementation of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) to remediate issues for identified deficiencies related to the documentation of a completeness methodology relative to the population of active and non-base realignment and closure (non-BRAC) sites.
  • Demonstrate an ability to competently assess, interpret, and communicate key E&DL supporting documentation to project leadership and client personnel. Documentation may include, but not be limited to, installation-wide assessment(s), fence to fence surveys, and environmental protection agency (EPA) docket documentation.
  • Assist the client with the annual Quality Control (QC) review of Cost-to-Complete (CTC) environmental and disposal liabilities estimates across AMC installations. This includes reviewing the auditability of estimating methodologies used to produce an audit ready CTC package.
  • Apply fundamental audit principles to concepts, processes, practices, and procedures of environmental and disposal liabilities.
  • Ability to interpret and appropriately communicate and discuss disseminated environmental and disposal liabilities guidance with client personnel.
  • Contribute to the development of deliverables, reporting performance metrics, presentations, and training where applicable.
  • Update relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated templates as appropriate.
  • Work with client personnel to update phase schedules and ancillary data to ensure that cleanup activities are appropriately represented within the SAP based system of record.
  • Perform real-time reconciliations and conduct ongoing monitoring of data input into the system of record to identify and resolve data reversion issues that contribute to audit impediments.
  • Possess and apply expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience with federal financial management, AND 2 years of experience with DoD audit readiness.
  • B.A. or B.S. in business, accounting, finance, or related experience.
  • Professional services experience and/or experience supporting public sector clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operational understanding/environmental and disposal liabilities experience is preferred.
  • Experience with DoD financial statement audit, internal control testing or analysis, and coordinating with external auditors.
  • Knowledge of Army financial management policies, systems, and procedures
  • Specialized certification to include CPA, CGFM, CDFM, or other equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of SAP based platforms.

Physical Requirements: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 25lbs.
