DPS Group, LLC, located in Wetumpka, AL, is an Electrical & Electronics Contractor serving the Corrections Industry. We perform our trade in Prisons, Jails, Police Stations, & Courthouses throughout the Southern States (www.dpsgroup.net).

We are looking for a self-starting, motivated, individual willing to lead and help. This is a position for a hands-on, working leader. Applicants must live within reasonable daily driving distance of our main office in Wetumpka, AL (60 miles +/-). Employment is contingent on a successful Drug Screening (Hair and Urine) and Criminal Background check.

There are always a few local projects, but most projects are out of town (100 miles plus from Wetumpka, AL), so the ability and willingness to travel is a must. Typical work schedules allow for returning home every 1 to 2 weeks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and programming IP video systems, networked access control, audio/video systems, access control systems, programmable logic controllers, intercom/paging systems and PLC/Network switches

Read and understand electronic and electrical schematics

Read, understand & interpret construction blueprints & specifications

Ability to draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units & devices

Occasional Conduit & J-Hook installation

Field Wire/Cable installation in plenum & conduit systems

CAT6 Cable installation, terminations, & certification

Fiber Optic Cable installation, terminations, & certification

Dressing-out, labeling, and termination of LV control panels

Test & Commission LV Systems.

All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

Basic understanding and interest in electrical, low voltage electronics, or computers/I.T

Analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to support customer systems via remote diagnostics with professionalism

Must be able to work independently and resolve problems to our customer’s satisfaction

Knowledge and practical experience with the internet and networking is essential

Excellent communication with assigned Project Manager

Excellent customer interaction & service.

Education/Experience:

Trade School Certification

College Degree (in associated field)

2 years experience in troubleshooting networked access control and IP video systems, including working on the customer’s network

Fiber optic and network cable testing preferred

BISCI Installer or Technician Certification preferred

Electrical experience preferred

Valid Driver’s License required

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving machinery, loud noise and vibration, and other construction hazards. Employees will frequently be required to stand, walk, and reach and occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs, occasional lifting of or moving up to 50 lbs. Occasional work in crawlspaces, trenches, and high elevations. Subject to hot, cold, humid and wet conditions depending on location. Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring and drawings. Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduit.

Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel in the Southeast for 2 to 5 days at the time
