onsite role in (Huntsville, AL) which was recently

Position Description:We are seeking a

Geospatial (GIS) Software Engineer that iswell rounded with the expertise to build applications and systems architecture but also regularly interface with government leadership. An ideal candidate is passionate about GIS technology, learning new things, and applying that technology to solve our Nation’s most critical challenges. This is anopportunity to be part of a dynamic team supporting the FBI law enforcement agency, and to grow with a company that rewards hard work. This opportunity involves working directly with applications to support the FBI enterprise. You will provide hands-on software design and development expertise for multiple programming languages and system environments, collaborate with other team members, project sponsors, and government personnel to devise practical solutions to problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing oversight of the application development tasks; monitoring cross functional team activities to achieve optimal performance and ensure quality deliverables are being provided for the client in accordance with mutually agreed upon delivery schedules;
  • Working collaboratively with team members to troubleshoot, resolve and implement required changes in the development, test, staging, and production environments;
  • Leading efforts to create requirements, designs, and specifications for complex or highly technical Web applications; which may require extensive research and analysis;
  • Experience leading technical team implementing enterprise-wide GIS
  • Experience managing the integration of data services and ingests between record keeping systems and GIS
  • Experience managing the implementation and documentation for GIS security controls
  • Experience managing multiple production and development environments, including cloud-based and on-premises
  • Experience with ArcGIS commercial software
  • Translating functional requirements into technical solutions for application development;
  • Ensuring projects are developed with professional level standards for site performance, usability, scalability, browser compatibility and reliability;
  • Reviewing designs and maintain compliance with application, infrastructure, architecture and security;
  • Oversee the development of required logic, algorithms and code for the applications;
  • Working with users during integration testing to identify errors, fix coding errors, and implement requested changes;
  • Reviewing logical data models (entity relationship, business process, and process flow;
  • Building physical data models (conversion of logical models in relational database models);
  • Working with database administrators to coordinate necessary changes to the database structure;
  • Utilizing SDLC or Agile methodologies to ensure applications are functioning properly before production deployment;
  • Working with Enterprise Cyber Security and the Systems Team to mitigate security findings, if any;
  • Participating in the Change Control Board (CCB) at various levels;
  • Providing status reports of bi-weekly or monthly accomplishments;
  • Coordinating with the Operations Team and the Enterprise to perform mission systems maintenance during Government scheduled maintenance windows.

Requirements:
  • Must have active Top Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 2+ years geospatial systems engineering experience
  • Experience with technical development for new features related to GIS
  • Experience with monitoring and maintaining GIS
  • Experience with data services and ingests for GIS
  • Experience documenting security controls for GIS
  • Experience working in different production and development environments, including cloud-based and on-premises
  • Experience with ArcGIS commercial software
  • Reside in the Huntsville, AL metro area or be willing to relocate
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and working with Agile based delivery teams
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies to ever changing problems.
  • Expertise in principles of object-oriented software design and programming.

Desired skills:
  • Experience with .NET WebAPI2 and .NET Core
  • Experience with Azure cloud services
  • DevOps tooling; CI/CD pipeline concepts and design
  • Experience with UI / front end (JS, HTML, CSS) design and development
  • ESRI suite of products
