This is an onsite role in (Huntsville, AL) which was recently ranked #1 Best Place to Live by U.S. News & World Report as well as the 3rd most affordable place to live and #16 fastest-growing place to live. Ardent will provide a relocation bonus, if you are willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area. Ardent is looking for a Geospatial Software Engineer / Technical Lead who will work closely with our lead architect and system integration team design and develop tools and applications that leverage the ArcGIS REST and Python API allowing automation of a variety of GIS tasks such as automating map production, publishing web services, updating data sources across different databases, web map generation, and more. This individual will support critical automation tasks to help manage deployments, metrics, user access and other tasks. Working within an Agile based process, the person in this role will be responsible for developing data driven solutions for incident operations and national security events using products such as Esri Operations Dashboard, Web App Builder and custom Esri solutions. This role will support multiple collaborative project teams all collocated in Washington DC.Responsibilities:- Envision, design, and develop web applications and data management strategies for large-scale deployment and management in the Homeland Security community
- Rapidly prototype web applications to showcase new concepts and ideas
- Develop software that extends the capabilities of the ArcGIS platform
- Build software components using a variety of programming languages (C, Python, Esri Javascript) that follow industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models
- Solve and articulate complex problems with application design, development, and user experiences
- Write technical design specifications and support documentation
- Suggests new technologies and approaches, often demonstrating and championing their use
- Estimate the duration and level of effort of development tasks
Requirements:- Bachelor's Degree in IT discipline
- 4+ years geospatial systems engineering experience
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance
- Experience leading technical team implementing enterprise GIS
- Experience with creating system architectures to support GIS deployments
- Experience leading technical development for new features related to GIS
- Experience leading team responsible for monitoring and maintaining GIS
- Experience managing the integration of data services and ingests between record keeping systems and GIS
- Experience managing the implementation and documentation for GIS security controls
- Experience managing multiple production and development environments, including cloud-based and on-premises
- Experience with ArcGIS commercial software
