In this hands-on role, you will respond to emergency situations involving water, fire, mold, and storm damage, focusing primarily on demolition of affected structures and thorough cleanup to prepare sites for reconstruction. The ideal candidate is physically fit, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. This position requires travel to job sites and occasional on-call availability for urgent responses.
Key Responsibilities
Demolition and Structural Removal: Safely perform demolition tasks using hand tools (e.g., hammers, pry bars) and power tools (e.g., saws, drills) to remove damaged drywall, flooring, insulation, and other building materials affected by water intrusion, fire, or mold growth.
Site Cleanup and Debris Management: Efficiently clear and dispose of debris from job sites, including vacuuming, sweeping, and bagging waste materials to ensure a clean, safe environment post-demolition.
Damage Assessment Support: Assist in initial site inspections to identify areas requiring demolition, documenting findings with photos and notes for project managers.
Restoration Preparation: Set up and monitor basic drying equipment (e.g., dehumidifiers, air movers) after cleanup to mitigate further damage; perform surface treatments like washing, caulking, and minor painting as needed.
Team Collaboration: Work alongside restoration crews to complete projects on time, reporting progress and any issues to supervisors; may lead small teams on cleanup tasks.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to 24/7 calls for mitigation services, traveling to residential and commercial properties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience: 1-2 years in construction, restoration, demolition, or related field; experience in water/fire/mold mitigation preferred but not required (paid training provided).
Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools; basic knowledge of building materials and demolition techniques; ability to read blueprints or site diagrams a plus.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and handle exposure to dust, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
Certifications: Valid driver's license
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in construction or restoration is a bonus.
Soft Skills: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team; reliable transportation required.
