Product Launch Engineer

Summary: Reports to the VP of Product Engineering. This position is responsible for proper implementation of new product launch as well as providing technical information / data to other areas throughout the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide technical support and guidance to the project team members.

Coordinate with various teams, including design, manufacturing, quality control, and tooling to ensure project goals

are met.

Maintain accurate project documentation, including product blueprints, technical specifications, and change orders.

Identify and resolve technical issues and problems that arise during the project.

Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.

Point of contact for communicating with management, internal team members, customers and vendors to keep the

project on track.

Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.

Gather materials or resources needed to design the product.

Review test data for the product for usability and safety.

Understand the manufacturing and production process to assist in setting standards.

Support organization on new model development and launch activities.

Provide support to ensure all APQP processes are followed accurately.

Support product launch prototype, pre-production build and high-volume launch.

Supervision of other employees.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

Metrology methods and techniques.

Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Autodesk - AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault).

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Time Management.

Critical thinking / problem solving skills.

Attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Blueprint reading and understanding.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in science minimum required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

5 years minimum in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).

Experience in new product launch preferred.

2 Years experience in an IATF16949 certified environment preferred.

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Must be capable of standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching for up to 8 hours, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
