As a partner in NASA’s next generation of space exploration, our jobs are literally history in the making.Position DescriptionThis position will provide Systems Engineering (SE), systems requirements management and verification support to the MSFC Systems Requirements & Verification Branch (EV73) to support and the Space Launch System (SLS) Stages Office. System engineering support to be provided by the candidate includes the following responsibilities:Lead and/or support development of Stages element requirements and verification products and ensure compliance with these requirements during development, testing and evaluation of Stages sub-elements.Support the Stages Lead Systems Engineer and Engineering Discipline Lead Engineers to evaluate prime contractor deliverables, including assessments of element Detailed Verification Objectives and verification of allocated end item specification requirements.Perform systems engineering tasks and assessments to support the SLS Stages Program through reviews, meetings, working groups, trade studies and development of key systems engineering products to support program milestones.Communicate technical issues, risks, best practices and lessons-learned related to products, technical positions, requirement management, and V&V practices and develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage systems engineering tasks.Here’s What You’ll Need:QualificationsA degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a BS degree in a related technical discipline is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS degree with at least 15 years of relevant experience in systems engineering and integration, launch vehicle definition, functional design, design integration, launch vehicle performance analyses, flight evaluation planning, requirement verification, and/or requirement validation.Applicants must have the following required qualifications:Ability to function in a self-directed dynamic work environment as an effective team member, willing to assume a leadership role in the Stages systems engineering effort.Experience in developing systems requirements, verification strategies, and verification planning as well as facilitating the successful completion of verification compliance activities.Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to verification and have experience with using tools/systems to manage verification compliance data.Demonstrated experience working across organizational boundaries and engineering disciplines to facilitate and execute program systems engineering tasks and resolve systems integration issues.Demonstrated experience developing and delivering executive-level briefings, excellent oral, written, and customer relation skills, and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).Applicants should also have one or more of the following desired qualifications:Demonstrated experience in effective technical leadership of an engineering team.An understanding and knowledge of the current SLS program and a working understanding of the SLS Element interfaces.Knowledge of launch vehicle programmatic planning processes and experience performing oversight of prime contractor hardware production, test, and certification efforts.Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures.Familiarity with aerospace vehicle and system design.Experience with defining and managing interfaces, interface requirements, and interface verification.The Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) offers a partnership in which you can grow personally and professionally within a framework of strong leadership, competitive compensation, and rewarding career paths.
