POSITION SUMMARY:

The Foundation’s Trainer is responsible for the implementation of Extension and Enrichment (E&E) sports and fitness training and educational activities. Additionally, the Foundation’s Trainer will provide youth and families with communication regarding program activities and outreach activities/opportunities within the Matsu Borough service area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and implement the E&E sporting, fitness, and educational activities.

Develop active/collaborative partnerships with other training providers.

Assist in the creation of safety guidelines for all program activities.

Provide transportation of youth program participants on a backup basis to the Foundations Driver.

Provide outreach information on services available within the Matsu Borough service area.

Submit data and reports on time to the Lead Program Coordinator.

Obtain, track, and document all pertinent information.

Participate in scheduled program/community meetings as requested.

Travel to occasional training or meetings.

Work as part of a team, the team includes co-workers, partner agencies, and participants/participant parent or guardian.

Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies, and procedures.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position is very active including sports activities both indoors and outdoors.

Ability to stand, walk, run, lift, carry, bend, squat, and climb, along with the ability to demonstrate sport specific movements and techniques.

Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Individual may be exposed to various environmental conditions, including inclement weather, noise exposure, chemical exposure and infectious materials/blood borne pathogen exposure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree in education, Sports Science, or related field, preferred.

One (1) year experience in related field and continuing education toward a higher degree.

One (1) year of youth activity coordination, in an education field setting.

Valid state of Alaska driver’s license and be insurable under KT’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record.

Clean state and federal background check.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYEMENT:

Knowledge and experience of Knik Tribe’s service area and Knik Tribe’s programs.

Adequate experience with all Microsoft Office Applications.

Capable of basic maintenance for general office equipment.

Maintain a clean criminal background check.

Maintain a clean driving record.

Willingness to be trained and new learning environments.

Knowledge and application of professional and ethical conduct as guided by Knik Tribal Council Personnel Manual section 8.1.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Salary: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour DOE/E.
