Job DescriptionThe Safety and Training Manager is responsible for directing the Driver Training Program as well as coordinating Driver Safety Meetings and Driver Evaluation ProgramJob Responsibilities Direct and coordinate all operational functions associated with the Driver Training Program. Maintain proper staffing levels, ensure training, and schedule all employees for functional areas managed. Direct and supervise two On-The-Road Supervisors in the day-to-day monitoring and evaluation of all Transit related driving activity in and around Denali National Park and Preserve. Develop work and route schedules based on changing operational needs. Through day-to-day monitoring and evaluation, develop performance appraisals that address defensive driving skills for all driving positions employed within the department. Coordinate and process daily as well as special transportation events Scheduling and Coordinating with other departments to ensure schedules are communicated and instruction is ideal with efficient use of time and materials. Preside over monthly safety meetings for all drivers. Facilitates semi-monthly safety and communication meetings with Park service and drivers. Coordinate with a team of On-The-Road Supervisors to determine evaluation needs of all drivers along the park road as well as the east end driving environment. Through ride along evaluations, develop performance appraisals, which address defensive driving skills and customer service for all driving positions employed within the department. Ensure that every driver is evaluated as needed with follow-up for those drivers requiring additional training. Meet with drivers when safety or training issues arise for the purpose of correcting behaviors and issuing disciplinary action when needed. Work with the Bus Wash Manager to ensure proper training of all bus wash employees who will be parking buses and moving them within the JV land assignment. Performs as a Manager on Duty. Ensure compliance with FMCS and DOT Regulations, in regards to log books, hours of service, DQ Files, DVI, training, and operational compliance. Maintain positive contact with DOT Maintain a proper and responsive relationship with NPS staff as relates to training. Develop and provide training in the areas of job specifics, customer service Responsible for general knowledge of corporate environmental policies and procedures and how they relate to their job functions. Responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training. Communicate Environmental objectives and targets during EMS training. Additional tasks as required.Qualifications Experience and demonstrated knowledge in logistics organization with a demonstrated ability to prioritize needs and demands. Previous supervisory experience with a demonstrated knowledge of supervisory skills. Must have excellent conflict resolution and customer service skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have previous experience and knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel programs. Previous experience in guided tours or interpretive programs strongly preferred. Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction strongly preferred. Professional level training or certification in bus driver training a plus. Previous experience in transportation management a plus. Previous experience in managing drivers to DOT Rules and Regulations.
