Senior Telecommunications Project ManagerCompany: TEKsystems Location: Alaska (Remote with travel) Position Overview: TEKsystems is seeking a dynamic Senior Telecommunications Project Manager for an Alaska-based client. This position will primarily be remote however travel within the state of Alaska will be required. Often this travel will be to remote sites via helicopter and small aircraft. Position Summary:
The Telecommunications Construction Manager will work closely with the rest of the Company’s OSP division.
They will be responsible for leading multiple network expansion construction projects, directing day-to-day operations and managing customer relations while meeting deadlines on time and on budget.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of system design and complex network architecture is highly beneficial to this role.
This individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have critical problem-solving skills to make decisions quickly when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Lead multiple network expansion construction projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
Field Operations: Direct day-to-day construction field operations, providing technical guidance and quality control.
Customer Relations: Manage customer relations, ensuring satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly.
Productivity Tracking: Implement and review company tracking methods to measure productivity and project progress.
Technical Oversight: Understand and manage telecommunication construction operations, including electronics and telephony equipment.
Cable Identification: Identify various types of cables and wires, understanding industry-standard color codes.
Stakeholder Communication: Interface with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring cohesive project execution.
Team Coordination: Ensure team goals and protocols align with company strategy.
Fiber Network Expansion: Execute and deliver multiple fiber construction projects, focusing on aggressive network expansion.
Budget Management: Adhere to budget constraints, track expenses, and report as required.
Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with regional utilities, local, and state governments.
Documentation: Maintain accurate plant records and as-builts upon project completion.
Continuous Learning: Participate in educational and networking opportunities to stay updated on network operations and technology changes.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent education/experience.
Experience: Minimum 6+ years in engineering or network construction.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD, GIS mapping software, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital construction platforms.
Construction Knowledge: Understanding of construction standards, OSP construction details (Aerial, Underground, Buried, Splicing), and FTTX construction methods.
Network Topology: Good understanding of telecom network topology and customer connectivity.
Hands-On Experience: Experience with telecom networks, including OSP and ISP elements.
Attention to Detail: Ability to oversee multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
