Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Health Department HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.LOCATION: 825 L StreetRemote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.Example of DutiesResponsible for completing timekeeping duties; to include reviewing and editing time and payroll records. Serve as the first contact point for employees and supervisors regarding any questions they have about their pay. Provide assistance with paperwork and timekeeping functions relating to payroll. Complete general accounting duties such as processing invoices, payments and encumbrances for purchase order creation. Maintains grant accounting files, both electronic and hard copy and the archive process for all prior period files. Assists in the preparation of journal entries, variance analysis and budget transfers. Contribute to the development, review and revision of operating instructions and procedures. Assist Sr. Accountants with the annual grant application process and the grant closeout process. Maintain the Fiscal Department accounting lists, accountant assignment list, and the grant funding list. Responsible for addressing a limited assignment of questions/requests from MOA and AHD. Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position. ORAssociate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position. ORBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position.All applicants must possess and/or complete:
