Tucson Asphalt is searching for an Asphalt Paving Superintendent to join our well-established, growing company. Hands-on field supervision of paving projects with extensive asphalt paving operation and equipment knowledge. We require that they be committed to the total team effort by contributing to properly completing the work. SOME OF THE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for leading by example with a positive attitude, work ethic, character, productivity, quality, and safety

Motivated leader to supervise and maintain positive morale within the team

Train, mentor, develop, and manage all paving crew personnel

Ensure the work meets proper quality control standards and is completed per contract specifications

Attend job site safety and progress meetings as required

Ability to read and understand project specification documents, including schedules, plans, and specifications

Conduct daily huddles to confirm all crew members are aware of goals, production, potential safety hazards, and job site-specific safety requirements

Communicate with the asphalt plant for daily holds, cut-offs, plant issues, job issues, etc.

Schedule and keep asphalt delivery trucks in order and organized per the paving plan. Turn in trucking tickets with daily paperwork to the office. Sign trucks out from the job site at the end of the day.

Measure job and calculate square footage, calculate asphalt quantities, figure cut off, and call into asphalt plant. Check yields periodically and update cut-off as necessary

Ensure manholes and water valves are marked, string-lines are set, and any other job-specific conditions are addressed

Ensure safe working conditions for crew, ensuring proper use of PPE

Responsible for the completion of the daily timesheet, quantities (records thereof), diaries, job site photos, and safety observations

Be able to operate paving equipment, use tools, and assist with labor as required to complete the job

Communicate any issues, concerns, or problems to Superintendent throughout the day

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Verifiable two (2) years of supervisory experience in the roadway or parking lot pavement

This is a full-time position that will typically involve 40+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather, and emergencies at the job site.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
