Webb Medical Center and Banner University Medical Center of Phoenix are currently recruiting for the role of Associate Director, Behavioral Health Case Management Services over both facilities. This leadership role provides operational and clinical support to approximately 18 direct reports split between two campuses including Masters level/licensed social workers and counselors, utilization management team members, RN Case Managers, Recreational Therapists and Transitional Care Navigators. The Associate Director interacts with the medical, nursing and administrative teams, coordinates staff scheduling based on clinical needs, and provides performance management and clinical guidance for their direct reports. The ideal candidate will have an independent level of licensure with the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LCSW or LPC) with a strong desire to provide weekly clinical supervision to team members seeking independent licensure.This is an opportunity for the individual who enjoys a fast paced, dynamic work environment, who enjoys interacting with hospital treatment teams, ensuring the high caliber of therapy programming and case management services. This is an exempt level position that is 100% on-site, full time position ,anticipated schedule will be M-F 8-5, with approximate 50/50 split between campuses. Our 22 -bed inpatient teaching hospital environment at Banner University and our 54 bed campus provide inpatient acute behavioral health care for adults, geriatric and dementia patients. With 391 licensed beds, the hospital provides a wide range of services, including acute medical and surgical services as well as intensive care, emergency and urgent care, inpatient/outpatient surgery, cardiac catheterization, neurology, orthopedics, oncology, urology, pulmonary, obstetrics and gynecology, outpatient diagnostic services, and adult behavioral services.POSITION SUMMARYThis position plans and provides managerial and/or clinical support to patients/members, staff and director within the department. This position supervises employees and participates in selection, orientation, counseling, evaluation and staff scheduling. Maintains a depth and breadth of clinical competency to assess outcomes related to delivery of Case Management and/or Social Services and other departmental functions.CORE FUNCTIONS

Provides and/or facilitates case management and/or social work, and/or other related activities and serves as a resource to other staff members. Promotes interdisciplinary patient/member care planning and supports Care Model.

Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and directs the workflow for the staff. This position is also accountable for participating in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives. Ensures all goals and objectives are met timely and effectively.

Serves as a resource and provides leadership assistance to achieve optimal clinical, operational, financial, and satisfaction outcomes. Acts as a consultant within the organization and perhaps in the community.

Supports change and participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the goals/objectives and process improvement activities within the department. Works with staff to make necessary changes. May analyze data and healthcare trends to gain efficiencies and improve patient outcomes.

Participates in the development of the department budget in conjunction with established goals and objectives. Plays a key role in ensuring budgetary goals are met on an annual basis.

Accountable for maintaining policies, procedures, and clinical care standards and clinical supervision to the level that meets all federal, state and local regulatory requirements.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Facility based while remaining within budgetary allowances. Internal customers: all levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. External customers: physicians, payers, community agencies, provider networks and regulatory agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequires Master’s degree in appropriate behavioral healthcare-related field or equivalent experience.Requires a proficiency level typically achieved with 5 years clinical and 2 years supervisory experience. As required by state law, a licensure in at least one of the following categories: social work, professional counseling or marriage and family (certification requires two years post graduate experience in a mental health setting or equivalent combination of education and documented supervised clinical experience.) Positions providing direct services to substance abuse program patients must also possess board licensure in addictions as required by state.Requires extensive knowledge in the areas of case management, utilization management, and/or social services. Must have a working knowledge of hospital operations, medical/nursing staff procedures, hospital and community resources or Medicaid and Medicare regulations. Requires excellent leadership skills and an ability to interact well across departments, facilities and organizations.
