Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University. Under general direction, the Audio-Visual Systems Engineer provide technical support by way of configuration, commissioning, programming and maintenance of various audio and video equipment used in campus operations . Operates as Subject Matter Expert and tier 2 troubleshooter for all hardware and software configurations of all audio and visual media control systems and end devices. End devices and control systems includes (video wall displays, projectors, room AV control systems and control systems manufactured by Crestron, Cisco).Location: GCU Main CampusSchedule: 8am to 5pm Mon-FriBenefits: Full benefits portfolio including tuition packageWhat You Will Do:

Configures and commissions audio/video integrated systems

Reads and interprets electronic schematics, single line drawings, and architectural blueprints to install and configure audio/video systems

Tests integrated systems and performs troubleshooting when required.

Writes code for DSP systems (Q-Sys and Biamp) and basic integrated control systems (Crestron)

Conducts testing after installation of equipment and of control programs (Crestron, Q-Sys, and Biamp); troubleshoots as necessary

Performs audio and visual systems training for end users to be able to operate all audio and visual systems and equipment.

Gains knowledge of audio/video requirements required for future installations and integrations through client or team meetings.

Acts as liaison with vendors regarding system integration and installation.

Completes corrective and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment related to audio video systems throughout campus to sustain continuous operability.

Follows appropriate standardized procedures for each type of service event which includes onsite work and administrative activities associated with technical work. Ensures that reports are completed for each assignment.

Participates in development of annual plan by providing status reports of systems and equipment and relaying relevant information on trends in audio and visual systems and equipment.

Observes safety precautions and requirements.

What You Will Have:

Equipment and technology: Proficient understanding of audio, video, control and user interface concepts. Proficient understanding of audio and video signal routing. Advanced PC knowledge including communication methods between PC and devices. Ability to integrate and learn other connecting IP technology and systems. Knowledge of DSP layout and programming. Ability to work nights, weekends when needed. Demonstrated skill in A/V equipment repair utilizing basic and micro tools, multi meters and soldering equipment.

Problem solving: Proficient troubleshooting ability to resolve installation issues with complex audio and visual systems and equipment’s; resolves with sound course of action to restore operability.

Good communications skills.

Good interpersonal skills with ability to work well in a team environment.

Ability to manage multiple escalating deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education and/or Experience: bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science and/or certifications in software programming for "Basic", "C". "SIMPL" or other certifications demonstrating knowledge of logic programming. Minimum of 3+ years installation and configuration experience with AV systems. Certificate or course work in Q-sys, Crestron, Biamp or related technology, strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements: Able to lift, move and carry up to 45 pounds alone and up to 90 pounds assisted.

Must be able to crawl, kneel and climb ladders to install equipment, cable and systems.

Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
