Description: Job Title: Composite Technician C Job Code: AS20211609-69526 Location: Tucson, AZ Position Summary: As a Composite Technician C you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and attention to detail. Required tasks will include the fabrication of composites using various techniques and types of materials, composites integration, prototyping, painting, composites trimming and bonding, etc. This position supports the Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division, which specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience. Major Job Activities: Performs complex composite fabrication tasks, such as molding, laminating, oven-curing, trimming, and finish work.

Performs mechanical assembly tasks and machine routing and drilling operations.

Performs minor part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming

May spray paint subassemblies.

Act upon and perform work from prints, work orders, documents, and verbal communications.

Works with epoxies, resins, and other chemical compounds, mixing according to specified formulas.

Check’s tolerances to ensure that fabricated parts meet drawing requirements.

Performs routine testing, such as pressure testing, resistance testing, and torque testing.

Cleans work area and tooling.

Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Work environment may contain noise, dust, heat, or chemicals.

Participates in on-the-job training to enhance skills related to job function, quality, safety, LEAN manufacturing, and other topics as necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

Minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Experience with manufacturing tasks associated with kitting, grinding, sanding, bonding, molding and/or assembly with a variety of composite materials.

Required Skills:

Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment

Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success

Basic knowledge with Microsoft Office products

Excellent communication skills (verbal)

Desired:

Experience mixing and spraying mil-spec paints/coatings desired.

Other Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma and/or equivalent related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. close to the body repetitively. (Employees need to ask for assistance and use material handling tools for lesser weight in awkward location and/or body positions and for any items over 35 pounds).

Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, and squat.

Ability to occasionally push, and reach.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time.

Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands.

Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.

You may be exposed to; fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.

Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
