The Data Center hardware planner position is part of a team of specialized technologists who support all Schwab Data Center locations. The team provides comprehensive Data Center services including hardware implementation, inventory management, technology space planning, asset tracking, and remote hands support. As part of the team, you will be a primary interface with Corporate Real Estate / Facilities for all environmental issues within technology spaces. The team is responsible for managing all technology related change activities with regards to building expansions and new building construction projects. Additional responsibilities include the secure coordination and disposal of all Schwab technology assets.

What you are good at

This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day activities that support data center operations and support of IT systems, network services, business-critical process and procedures that support the delivery of customer products and services. The position spans across the organization working on highly visible initiatives with a keen focus on customer service. The individual will act as a SME for the site and assigned projects regionally.

What you have

  • Desired 5+ years physical Data Center experience supporting technology hardware including power, space, and cabling.
  • Intricate knowledge of EIA/TIA standards while being data center centric.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution and loading.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cooling practices withing Data Center spaces.
  • Knowledge of DCIM tool(s) strongly preferred.
  • AutoCAD or similar design tool strongly desired.
  • Experience working in a Structured ITIL and or ISO environment utilizing problem, change, and incident disciplines.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and ensuring uptime.
  • Quickly learn, adapt, and retain Data Center knowledge.
  • Great teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Scheduling flexibility to complete assigned migration/projects as assigned - nights, weekends, multiple locations.
  • Superb communication and written skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Capability to spend extended durations standing and walking.
  • Industry certifications desired.
