Job Description

SVB is looking to hire a chief information officer for its Global Commercial Bank division, SVB's largest business unit. This leader will lead a team of over 1,250 peopleover half of SVB's technology organizationand will be responsible for all of the technology platforms supporting SVB's credit, treasury management, foreign exchange, trade finance, fund banking, and wine banking products and services. This executive will work in close partnership with peers on the Global Commercial Bank leadership team to fully integrate SVB's product and technology strategies, aligning around key objectives and ways of working.

This leader will be responsible for continuing to transform the technology foundation of SVB's Global Commercial Bank, creating a modern, flexible architecture and delivery model which will allow SVB to innovate more quickly and reliably.

DESIRED OUTCOMES
  • Work in partnership with SVB's Global Commercial Bank leadership team to develop a long-term technology strategy to support the business's growth objectives and client needs.
  • Accelerate the pace of technology transformation for SVB's Global Commercial Bank in the context of SVB's broader technology strategy. Continue to decompose monolithic, legacy applications to create a more modular, flexible environment; continue to migrate workloads to the public cloud.
  • Develop and continue to strengthen relationships with the Global Commercial Bank's leadership team (business teams, product teams) to foster productive working relationships and furthering shared goals.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Ten years of technology leadership experience

Experience in group-level or division-level technology leadership roles (e.g., global CIO, divisional CIO, CTO, head of software engineering, etc.)

Six years of experience managing portfolios of complex financial transaction processing applications

Experience with core banking platforms (i.e., lending, deposits, treasury) preferred, but experience with other high availability platforms (e.g., payments, retirement recordkeeping, insurance claims) may be considered.

Experience leading a legacy platform modernization program

Experience leading programs to decompose large-scale, monolithic legacy applications and migrating to a public cloud hosting strategy.

Experience with modern technology capabilities and methodologies

Experience working with and implementing capabilities such as agile development methodologies, cloud, open source, APIs, and micro-services.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Can adapt messaging to technical and non-technical audiences.

Team leadership experience of organizations of more than 800 employees

Experience including full-time, contract, and vendor resources.

Bachelor's degree in STEM field required; master's degree preferred

Concentration in computer science or engineering preferred.
