This exciting opportunity will serve a critical role in the development of Battery Systems for wide range of Caterpillar mobile and stationary applications.Additional InfoThe Battery System development team consists of over 20 mechanical and electrical engineers developing the next generation of Caterpillar power sources. Check out this exciting example of the type of project this position will directly support: Caterpillar Successfully Demonstrates First Battery Electric Large Mining Truck and Invests in Sustainable Proving Ground (https://www.caterpillar.com/en/news/corporate-press-releases/h/caterpillar-succesfully-demonstrates-first-battery-electric-large-mining-truck.html)Responsibilities include but not limited to:· Working alongside product support teams to support power battery system field units· Developing back office data analytics methods to proactively monitor batteries· Conducting field issue data analysis to quickly identify root cause· Collaborating with extended battery development team to develop and implement field corrective actions.· Engaging with field sites to ensure proper battery storage and maintenance practices are in place.Basic Qualifications:· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited engineering curriculum· 5 or more years of relevant engineering experience· 3 or more years of power source or drivetrain development experience at a component or system level· Excellent analytical skills and understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.Preferred Qualifications:· Knowledge of drivetrain systems for a range of architectures (hybrid, BEV, etc.)· Battery system performance or validation experience· Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills· Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and bridge a variety of internal and external teamsAdditional information:· Position may sit in Tucson, AZ, Mossville, IL or Lafayette, IN, Peoria, IL, Chicago, IL Lafayette, IN, Griffin, GA, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX· Domestic relocation is available for this position· Sponsorship is not available for this position· Up to 15% domestic/international travel is required· The posting will expire on Tuesday, May 16th at midnight#LI #electrification #engineeringjobsAbout CaterpillarCaterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
