Job Description

Construction Coordination & Management:

Oversee and manage construction projects within the data center, ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and company standards.

Work with architects, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Coordinate and schedule all construction activities to minimize disruption to data center operations and ensure that all work is carried out safely.

Review construction plans, provide input during the planning phase, and ensure that the final construction matches project specifications.

Retrofit & Renovation Projects:

Manage retrofit projects and renovations, including upgrades to existing systems, infrastructure, and building facilities.

Evaluate existing systems and facilities to identify areas for improvement, such as upgrading HVAC, electrical, cooling, fire safety, and security systems.

Collaborate with the engineering team to determine the technical requirements for retrofit projects and manage the execution of these projects from start to finish.

General Facility Improvement Projects:

Lead and manage general facility projects , including minor construction, facility upgrades, space reconfigurations, and maintenance improvements.

Ensure that projects align with the data center’s operational goals and support ongoing infrastructure optimization.

Handle all phases of facility projects, including initial concept, design, scheduling, execution, and final handover.

Manage procurement processes, vendor selection, and contract negotiations for facility-related projects.

Vendor & Contractor Management:

Source and manage third-party vendors and contractors to execute facility projects, ensuring that they meet quality standards and project deadlines.

Monitor the performance of vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements, safety protocols, and project timelines.

Act as the main point of contact for vendors, providing direction, addressing issues, and ensuring smooth communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Budget & Schedule Management:

Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints while meeting all operational requirements.

Create detailed project schedules, track project progress, and ensure milestones are met on time.

Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project status, budget, and schedule, including any potential delays or issues that may arise.

Risk Management & Compliance:

Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with facility projects, including safety concerns, operational disruptions, or unforeseen technical challenges.

Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, environmental laws, and safety standards.

Maintain a focus on maintaining operational uptime during projects, ensuring data center systems are not negatively impacted.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

Work closely with data center operations, engineering, and facilities teams to ensure alignment between project goals and ongoing operational needs.

Coordinate with IT, security, and other departments to ensure that facility projects do not conflict with critical operational requirements.

Facilitate communication between teams to ensure project expectations and progress are clearly understood by all stakeholders.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive documentation for all facility projects, including contracts, change orders, project schedules, and financial records.

Prepare and deliver regular status reports to senior management, highlighting project milestones, challenges, and progress.

Ensure that all project documentation is up-to-date, compliant with internal policies, and properly stored for future reference.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvements in project management, including streamlining workflows, improving vendor selection processes, and enhancing communication across teams.

Participate in post-project reviews to assess what went well and identify areas for improvement for future projects.

Stay current with industry trends and best practices for managing facility projects, incorporating new strategies and technologies where applicable.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or similar project management certification is highly desirable.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in facility project management, construction coordination, or facilities operations, preferably in a data center or mission-critical environment.

Experience managing large-scale construction projects, retrofit projects, and general facility improvement initiatives.

Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, cooling, fire safety, and security systems.

Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.

Skills & Certifications:

Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and senior management.

Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera) and basic Microsoft Office tools.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
