State of AZ – AZDOT - Requisition # 138 – Grant Coordination SupportContract:6+ MonthsLocation: 206 S. 17th Ave., Mail Drop 100A, Phoenix, AZ, 85007Shift: 8 AM to 5 PM (40 hrs/Week) US Citizenship Required. Background Check Required. Position Description:Be familiar with ADOT's own grant development process as well as how Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) assists statewide local agencies for their grant development. Be conversant with the grant application portals (websites) and their requirements. Research federal grant opportunities applicable to ADOT highway infrastructure and allied fields. Review published grant opportunities (NOFO) and prepare a summary in a spreadsheet for reference. Work with ADOT's internal subject matter experts as well as external entities when needed. Receive and review federal grant related requests from within ADOT and statewide agencies outside of ADOT and discuss a suitable response internally. Provide support to the Grant Coordinator (Manager) in educating or training others within and outside of ADOT. Review ADOT's own grant applications and provide comments for the grant writer to address. Keep track of external and internal requests related to grants and ADOT decision and action recorded on respective spreadsheets. Be conversant with various divisions, groups or sections within ADOT. Be familiar with the federal grant funding process, agreements and reporting requirements. Communicate with internal and external entities via phone and/or email as needed.Skills required: Capable of effectively communicating with ADOT's executive-level officials, local government officials and various entities within and outside of ADOT. Skilled in understanding and presenting ADOT projects for possible grant development. Skilled in Google applications (e.g., Google Doc, Sheet, Slide) and Microsoft business tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Skilled in handling official emails and responding to enquiries from both internal and external customers as and when needed.Skills Preferred:Skilled in analyzing and interpreting competitive grant documentations (e.g., US Department of Transportation’s Notice of Funding Opportunities aka NOFO). Understanding federal as well as state government laws, regulations, rules, policies, etc.Experience Required:Technical report writing, reviewing or editing. Effective communications both written and verbal. Customer service in a corporate/government sector setting. Dealing with professionals, technical experts and other stakeholders.Experience Preferred:Project coordination, project management, project planning, accounting, finance or similar experience will be a plus.Education Required:Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, communications, public relations, planning, administration, finance or any related field.Education Preferred:Higher or additional degrees or certifications relevant to this position will be a plus.
