OverviewHello humankindness Dignity Health Medical Group is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona. Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) employs approximately 200 providers and 500 support staff that cover a wide variety of specialties. The medical group has had tremendous success over the past few years and now provides more than 73 subspecialty services. The physicians provide clinical services in their areas of specialty and many serve in pivotal academic research and leadership roles.DHMG is also heavily involved in preparing tomorrows healthcare providers. DHMG has 84 medical school students and approximately 200 residents and fellows throughout the 25 academic programs. Clinical services are complemented with translational and bench research to augment medical education for residents and students. Assists with obtaining vital signs documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures prepares and may include administrating medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In addition to the above the Medical Assistant II functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration check-in and scheduling of patients.
Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol
Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested
Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies
Assists in patient/equipment preparation
Performs follow-up actions as directed
Completes hospital forms per protocol
Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols
Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's I&O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care
Records readings in an accurate and timely manner
Assists with patient admission, discharge and transfer
Initiates orders according to SJHMC time performance standards-STAT-Within 5 minutes, Discharge/Transfer- within 10 minutes, Routine- within 30 minutes
Conducts front desk duties as needed (check in, registrations, scheduling appointments)
Obtains authorization and referrals as needed
