Title: Network DevOps Engineer

Location: Remote; Must be located in one of the following states: AL, AK, AR, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, OR, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT

The Network DevOps Engineer performs tasks related to deploying new technologies and upgrades to the current core network infrastructure. Typical work hours are 8am – 5pm although some occasional evening work may be required.

Your role:
  • Perform implementation of new hardware and/or software as it relates to high-risk/impact core engineering projects.
  • Assist with upgrades to the core infrastructure and all-inclusive IP switching.
  • Build tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the development and production environments.
  • Support existing internally built monitoring and provisioning systems comprised of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Perl).
  • Identify areas for improvement and aid in providing automation.
  • Create Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for configuration templates, method of procedures, network diagrams, knowledge base articles, bill of materials, and support documentation.
  • Conduct training in new technology integration, technology upgrades, new product design, and implementation.
  • Work as part of a team to determine requirements, risks, and limitations for each project scope.
  • Assist with vendor management.
  • Perform on-call duties, customer equipment escalations, and evening network changes as assigned.

What you’ve got:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
  • 7+ years of system administration experience in Linux and FreeBSD environments.
  • Skills in Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins as well as Perl, Python, and other scripting languages.
  • Experience with large-scale task automation.
  • Strong fundamental networking skills with a service provider such as Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel, etc.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting database servers (MySQL, OpenLDAP, Postgres, SQLite).
  • Deep understanding of Operating Systems such as Debian, Slackware, FreeBSD, CentOS, and Windows 2008+.
  • Ability to troubleshoot escalated issues in relation to backbone infrastructure.
