- Perform implementation of new hardware and/or software as it relates to high-risk/impact core engineering projects.
- Assist with upgrades to the core infrastructure and all-inclusive IP switching.
- Build tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the development and production environments.
- Support existing internally built monitoring and provisioning systems comprised of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Perl).
- Identify areas for improvement and aid in providing automation.
- Create Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for configuration templates, method of procedures, network diagrams, knowledge base articles, bill of materials, and support documentation.
- Conduct training in new technology integration, technology upgrades, new product design, and implementation.
- Work as part of a team to determine requirements, risks, and limitations for each project scope.
- Assist with vendor management.
- Perform on-call duties, customer equipment escalations, and evening network changes as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
- 7+ years of system administration experience in Linux and FreeBSD environments.
- Skills in Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins as well as Perl, Python, and other scripting languages.
- Experience with large-scale task automation.
- Strong fundamental networking skills with a service provider such as Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel, etc.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting database servers (MySQL, OpenLDAP, Postgres, SQLite).
- Deep understanding of Operating Systems such as Debian, Slackware, FreeBSD, CentOS, and Windows 2008+.
- Ability to troubleshoot escalated issues in relation to backbone infrastructure.
