Working Independently, the Infrastructure Solutions Architect leads the Engineering practice with a focus on optimizing the delivery of infrastructure platforms, automated pipelines and robust feedback systems

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Is an extension of the Enterprise Architecture team
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture to develop requirements for a stable, responsive, highly available hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Lead the Engineering requirements practice. Design, implement, manage and maintain a stable, responsive, highly available hybrid cloud infrastructure for mission critical applications and high-transaction workloads.
  • Align new applications with the CI/CD practice. Collaborate with creating complex designs.
  • Generate and revise server, operating system, database, applications and network standards. Ensure delivered platforms meet functional and technical requirements.
  • Identifies inefficiencies in deployment/build process and provides solutions.
  • Translate requirements into technical designs and product roadmaps
  • Consult with multiple stakeholders to expand the adoption of the CI/CD pipeline methodology. Collaboratively define and improve the Engineering CI/CD practice.
  • Infrastructure capacity planning, forecasts server growth, consults vendors, collaborates with programmers and database administrators to optimize server performance.
  • Uses communication skills to listen to, identify & address customer needs while building a relationship and rapport with customers.
  • Ensure the appropriate level of documentation to support the operation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging infrastructure tools and technologies.
  • Lead the development of highly available and scalable platforms. Ensure all phases are being automated. Advocate for new platforms when necessary.
  • Advocate for new build and deployment platforms. Align new applications with the CI/CD practice.
  • Lead the design and development of monitoring, discovery, reporting, alerting and analytic systems and tools. Collaborate with SRE and monitoring teams.
  • Design, develop and support improvements to the value stream as a result of the feedback gathered from monitoring.
  • Collaborate with product teams, operations management and stakeholders to optimize system feedback. Monitor and provide guidance to systems engineers.
  • Coach engineers and identify opportunities that improve Discount Tire's system capabilities; including industry trends, research organizations, user groups, and technical conferences.
  • Define and teach the engineering innovation practice. Advocate for change and deliver innovation to the IT Engineering organization. Ensure concepts are implemented quickly and assess the results.
  • Complete work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:
  • This position requires a minimum of eight years of hands-on infrastructure experience in enterprise infrastructure design, automation, and administration supporting over 1000 servers
  • Expert knowledge of private and public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, VMware)
  • Expertise in building CI/CD pipelines with automated build tools including Atlassian, Jenkins, , Terraform, Chef, Microsoft SCCM/DSC, AWS CloudFormation
  • Broad technical and practical skills with common infrastructure systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Linux, Microsoft Windows Server, Virtualization/VMware, server clustering, MS Active Directory, enterprise backup, storage, MS SQL Server, server hardware, network protocols, DNS/DHCP, general networking concepts
  • Proven ability to build professional relationships with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability of excellent communication across all levels of the organization, interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft office, including skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio is necessary.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options, then propose solutions is essential.
  • Ability to influence and provide consistent results across all levels of the organization is imperative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with a positive demeanor, generating innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Troubleshooting and organizational skills with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential.
  • Proven customer service skills including the ability to manage and respond to different organizational situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude is essential.

  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Education Requirements:
  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Industry certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure solution is scalable and meets overall business requirements
  • Act as a liaison between Technical team, Functional team, Business Functions, and System Integrators to drive implementations
  • Be recognized as a functional expert in product space where representing
  • Conduct Solution Architecture reviews with project teams prior to design and development activities and ensure solution is scalable, is aligned with internal product roadmaps, and meets customers' business requirements

  • Provide mentorship and supervise developers
  • Complete work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • This position requires a minimum of ten years experience in an architecture role
  • 10+ years business experience with diverse operational, development and business roles
  • 10-12+ years experience with business process design and improvement;
  • Experience collaborating with regional and global project teams to define business requirements and deliver solutions that meet business goals
  • Experience in developing integrated solutions involving process, data, and technology
  • Experience with business case development
  • Strong conceptual, strategic thinking, problem solving, technical,l and analytical skills
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Ability to influence peers and leadership stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills

Work Days: Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

Work Hours: Normal work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
