Microsoft is looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join the Renewable Energy & Risk Team within the Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) Organization. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Renewable Energy Origination, Asset Management and Risk teams with the ongoing management of a large portfolio of renewable energy contracts. This role is located in - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50%.

Responsibilities

Provides information to key stakeholders, including working with internal engineering and external vendors to translate business needs into corresponding data requirements, and build out portfolio data architecture and platform to meet team objectives.

Workd with energy markets and renewables teams to collect and process data at scale and improve modeling of existing contractual positions globally.

Create detailed scenario analyses to inform both retail and renewable energy procurement decisions with a target to reduce spend at risk across regional and global portfolios.

Tracks budget variances, run root cause analyses, and present consolidated outputs and learnings to renewable and risk team leads.

Perform regular backcasts to assess accuracy of contractual modeling and market assumptions to continually calibrate risk models.

Supports Renewable Energy Origination team with supplier engagement and deal approval process including creation of proforma documentation for finance approvals and new vendor onboarding.

Supports the Asset Management team to drive vendor invoicing consistency and implement tools for independent verification to ensure accurate invoices and timely payments.

Provides ad-hoc support for contract negotiations with actionable feedback on portfolio risks and opportunities.

Researches market and industry trends. Performs analyses of supplier pricing, cost, capabilities, and capacity to provide materials and/or components for Microsoft products and/or services, and uses the results to make sourcing recommendations for assigned product categories with minimal guidance.

Defines, maintains, and executes sourcing strategies with minimal guidance, to ensure advantaged cost and sufficient continuity of supply while meeting quality goals (e.g., sustainability, repairability, etc.). Considers all relevant elements of technical roadmaps and business requirements (e.g., risk management, investments, supplier relationship, technology adoption) and coordinates cross-functionally to develop strategies and influence product-making decisions.

Contributes to the development and maintenance of supply chains are robust to disruptions with minimal guidance, and helps develop mitigation plans to address potential issues with manufacturing, geography/geopolitics, seasonality, financial health, performance, and/or major unavoidable events (e.g., climate events, COVID-19), with minimal guidance. Establishes appropriate business insights to help identify risk and maintain the right supply chains.

Supports internal cross-functional partnerships by maintaining awareness of and resolving internal partners' issues and challenges, influencing near-term sourcing decisions by sharing similar details with others teams, and adhering to established processes and governance for on-boarding and managing supplier partnerships to ensure continuity of supply in alignment with product and/or service roadmaps with minimal guidance or need for escalation.

Evaluates of segments of supply chain operations and sourcing data to inform cross-functional decision making that enables continuous supply of products, components, and/or materials as needed to meet business and consumer demand with minimal guidance

2+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, manufacturing, or relevant sales-related roles, including internship experience

OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field

OR equivalent experience.

Other RequirementsAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 2+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field

OR equivalent experience

2+ years of professional experience in energy / power markets

Sourcing Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
