This individual will support a variety of needs including anatomical dissections and preparation of human tissue for in-vitro testing as well as testing and data collection and the processing and management of data. This individual will also take on responsibility for maintaining supplies lab organization and supervising more junior staff and students. We are looking for an individual with strong interests in science medicine and spine surgery with an undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences and with previous research lab experience.Performs routine procedures in one or more sections of the laboratory facilities under the supervision of either a principal investigator, staff scientist, research associate, or postdoctoral fellow. Will be expected to use proven scientific method(s) in the conduct of new and routine experiments. May be required to present findings in either written or verbal form with emphasis on maintaining a record of experimental findings.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform hands on tissue dissection potting and preparation for experiments. Operate and lab equipment collect and manage data. Become proficient in using software tools and statistical analysis packages to describe analyze interpret and present data. Contribute towards preparation of proposals for funding final reports abstracts publications and manuscripts as requested. Participate in day to day activities and test schedules in coordination with lab team members and external collaborators. Collaborate fully with staff team members and surgeons to brainstorm and design novel studies and experiments. Assist with maintaining supply inventory and lab organization. Supervise and mentor more junior staff and students. Commitment to professional conduct and institution core values and mission at all times including representation of our team and organization. Masters of Science or equivalent training and experience (four year college degree plus two years of relevant practical experience in a science or research field).

Exposure to laboratory techniques appropriate to those executed in the multidisciplinary medical laboratory. Science background must be applicable to type of lab position applying for.

Proficiency with basic computer software (e.g. CAD Excel).

Strong technical proficiency. Ideal candidate has experience necessary to operate and trouble shoot data acquisition systems and other lab equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude. Adept at hands on tasks including handling tools surgical instruments and operating test equipment.

Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Ability to manage projects and resources to meet project goals and timelines as needed.

Willingness to sometimes work outside regular hours as needed to accommodate completion of study phases.

Strong organizational interpersonal verbal and technical writing skills.

Highly self-motivated with ability to work trouble shoot and solve problems independently. Simultaneously able to follow direction as/when needed.

Professional mature attitude; conveys team and organizational values in daily activities and decision making.

Ability to safeguard confidential information data and intellectual property.

Ability to work openly and communicate effectively with individuals from a wide diversity of backgrounds and professional capacities.
