Responsibilities

State Farm Enterprise Technology's AMCC (Agency, Marketing, & Contact Centers) division is seeking a

Senior Technology Engineer for its Tech Enablement and Engineering team (Disruptioneers). The Senior Technology Engineer will partner with the team's existing Senior Technology Engineers, Architecture Manager, as well as area software engineers, technical architects, and technical leadership to advance AMCC's Target Architecture vision. This vision involves utilizing a blend of Cloud platforms including AWS, Salesforce, and Heroku to enrich the enterprise customer relationship management (ECRM) experience via event-driven architecture, robust API design, data analytics, machine learning, and the latest platform capabilities from Salesforce.

The position involves conducting proofs-of-concept, developing and owning engineering patterns (e.g. ECRM API Strategy) and best practices, IMPLEMENTING those patterns/best practices with AMCC product teams in Production, leading migration of applications to AWS through technologies such as RedHat OpenShift Service (ROSA), influencing technical decisions and strategy within AMCC, mentoring others, remaining active in the State Farm Technology Engineer community, and occasional software engineering industry contributions (i.e. OpenSource code, blog articles).

Qualifications

Competitive candidates must have the following skills/experience:
  • 5+ years of Object-Oriented Programming experience (Java, C, Apex, Gosu, etc.)
  • 5+ years of Node.js (or other JavaScript) experience
  • 2+ years of Terraform (or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code language, such as CloudFormation) experience
  • 2+ years of AWS Serverless (Lambda) Development Experience
  • Effective communication of complex software engineering topics to both high-level and low-level audiences
  • Proven technical leadership ability
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach other software engineers
  • Proficient in CI/CD Automation
  • Proficient in PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL or other relational database technologies
  • Proficient in DynamoDB, MongoDB, CouchDB, or other non-relational database technologies
  • Proficient in event-driven architecture and API design/implementation

Preferred Skills:
  • 2+ years of Salesforce Development Experience (Apex and Lightning Web Components (LWCs))
  • Python
  • App Migration to AWS
  • Docker/Kubernetes/ECS/EKS
  • Machine Learning (Athena/QuickSight, SageMaker)
  • OAuth/Azure
  • Chaos Engineering
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or higher) certification
  • Heroku

Other Items of Note:
  • Travel on annual or semiannual team/suite summits in the Bloomington, IL and Phoenix, AZ hubs will be expected.
