Our business is undergoing transformation and shift towards using public cloud and we need experienced engineers to help us build a core cloud platform and services that the entire organization can leverage taking workloads into cloud.

As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for researching, recommending and delivering specific systems, applications, data, or process designs for large or complex cloud infrastructure solutions. In instances where the solution does not exist, you will be relied upon to invent a unique solution. They design, develop, and analyze overall architecture to determine that hardware, software and data architecture solutions meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs. Be a key contributor on Infrastructure design, decisions related to projects, and participate as part of a cloud architecture decision group both collaboratively within SVB and as an externally regarded leader in the space.

About the role:
  • Own, design, develop and lead of cloud infrastructure and cloud services AWS Cloud Infrastructure services like ECS, EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53 & S3, Landing zone etc.
  • Accelerate Cloud Adoption using pattern based approaches using automation as a key enabler; coaching and mentoring staff on using the same
  • Establish/Refine software engineering best practices to institutionalize DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code, and automated continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Willing and able to deal with existing and new technologies
  • Translate organizational level business requirements and use cases into infrastructure capabilities verified to meet the requirements.
  • Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
  • Design solution-independent architecture models that map business services to cloud application stacks.
  • Assist application solution architects and engineers to design scalable, highly available, secure application solutions that leverage cloud services.
  • Utilize cost/benefit models with mapping architecture to business outcomes and KPIs.
  • Coordinate with Product Owners to incorporate the voice of the customer
  • Maintain technical vendor relationship
  • Continuously manage, monitor, and update operations architecture models as business needs evolve and additional cloud services become available.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years IT experience with 6 years of software development/coding experience and Minimum of 3 years of Cloud Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of the primary AWS services (ECS, EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53 & S3, Landing zone
  • Knowledge of Terraform or other IaC (ie. Cloudformation) is a must
  • Experience in database and data warehouse technologies will be highly preferred (Postgres/Oracle, SQL, or Redshift)
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience coding in higher level programming language, Python, Ruby, JSON is a plus
  • Experience managing data center operations
  • A keen interest in new technologies and open source
  • Willingness to research and self-study to keep technical skills relevant in a highly complex environment
  • Innovative and ability to think outside the box for creative problem solving
