Traffic Control Barricade Driver

Position Summary:

The Traffic Control Barricade Driver is responsible for the safe loading, transportation, placement, and retrieval of traffic control devices—such as cones, signs, barricades, and barrels—on roadways, highways, and construction zones. This role plays a key part in ensuring safe work zones for both motorists and construction crews by following approved traffic control plans and complying with all safety standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely drive a company truck /flatbed to transport barricades, cones, signs, and other traffic control equipment to and from job sites.

Load and unload equipment manually and with mechanical assistance (as needed).

Set up and remove temporary traffic control zones according to traffic control plans (TCPs) and applicable standards (e.g., MUTCD).

Maintain proper spacing and placement of cones, signage, and barricades to ensure visibility and safety.

Ensure all equipment is clean, functional, and properly stored.

Communicate with team members, flaggers, and supervisors via two-way radio or mobile device.

Document work performed and complete daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs).

Perform basic maintenance and inspections on assigned vehicle and equipment.

Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Provide support in emergency traffic situations or night/weekend deployments, as required.

Requirements:

Valid driver’s license

Clean driving record (subject to MVD check)

Ability to work in all weather conditions

Able to lift 50 to 75 lbs frequently

Ability to read and understand basic traffic control plans and road maps

Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Preferred Qualifications:

ATSSA or equivalent Traffic Control Technician or Flagger Certification

Prior experience in traffic control or construction preferred

Knowledge of MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) standards

OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus
