The Office of Special Education (OSE) would like to update all the web applications using MVC, Microsoft .NET, or the best programming language for web application development. In addition to updated applications, all the web applications will be maintained and corrected for any software defects in a timely manner. This includes user and administrative applications. Cross training and detail technical documentation will be required to transfer knowledge and documentation to current IT staff. The project will be completed in phases; completion dates may vary. All work is to be completed by July 31, 2025 or 24 months from hiring date. This position is responsible for upgrading and/or redesign of OSE website applications. The update will require code changes, setup, and deployment on a Windows 2019 Server with SQL Server 2019. The position is Job Duties and Responsibilities Requirement gathering analysis & research current implementation & architecture Identify migration challenges and prepare Requirement Analysis Document Respond to reports of problems Perform debugging of programming code Perform alterations to programming code as needed to correct problems Respond to requests for changes Add new programming code to implement new requirements Alter programming code to remove elements no longer needed Alter structure of data tables to add needed new columns Author and maintain documentation of processes Provide training to select OSE Personnel Post-Implementation Support Work with DESE Office of Information Technology (OIT) to integrate the DESE Single Sign-On for school districts with the MySped Resource login. Qualifications A successful candidate must have meet the following criteria: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or Computer Applications or related field At least 5 years' experience in MVC, .NET, C#, VB, ASP.NET programming IIS web applications and APIs, and SQL programming Knowledge on creating tables, indices, views, triggers, functions, and stored procedures. T-SQL a plus. Experience in development and maintenance phases of a project. Version control and defect management tools. Proven ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. Proven ability to lead complex technical discussions with business and non-technical users. Special Requirements Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and programming in C#, VB.NET, MVC and ASP.NET. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and T-SQL Experience with Web Development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript Crystal Reports, Tableau, Power BI are a plus.
