Overview:

Under the supervision of the surgeon, The Surgical Tech First Assist is a role whichprovidesadditionalassistance to the surgeon in the Operating Room over and above that normally provided. As defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), surgical assistants provide aid in exposure,hemostasis, closure, and other interoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safer operation withoptimalresults for the patient.In addition, the CSFA may perform in the role of the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and guiding principles.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications (LevelII):

New Grads/Complex/Routine; Supports Multiple Service Lines and consistently supports a 24-Hour Opportunity LocationEducation:High-School Diploma or GED and Successful completion of a Postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program are required. You may be asked to provide proof of education.Licensure-Certification: First Assist Certification (CSFA) from an accredited Surgical Technologist First Assist Program is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.Experience: Experienced with complex and routine cases. Completes all competencies in previous levels in addition to: Basic competencies of a Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist.Other:Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
