Summary About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Perform tests to detect malfunctions on standby operation emergency power. Indicate deterioration of substations by closely monitoring various electrical meters. Change governor settings by operating diesel generator controls to synchronize rotary converters. Troubleshoot multi-fuel engines according to equipment specifications. Implement maintenance repairs as outlined in the Army Regulation 420-42 regulations to follow company policy. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic (Direct Hire Authority) without more than normal supervision to include maintaining electrical generators to ensure satisfactory operational conditions, troubleshooting equipment such as diesel, gasoline, or multi-fuel engines to determine next course of action, completing work order to capture accurate production. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Efforts-Work involves lifting, carrying, and handling of objects 25 to 40 pounds for approximately 15% of the time. Work involves continuous physical activity in reaching, bending, turning, stooping, standing and climbing. Working Conditions-Work is performed inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Sometimes required to make repairs and installation outside in bad weather and in work areas that are noisy. There is considerable exposure to dust, fumes, and chemical agents such as PCB. There is the possibility of serious injury or death from contact with high voltage and the employee is subject to the possibility of burns, falls, cuts. bruises, and strains during the course of the work.
