Sr. IT Consultant - Capacity Planning / Disaster RecoveryDate: Apr 12, 2023Location: The Woodlands, Texas, United StatesCompany: EntergyPosting End Date: 04/30/2023Work Place Flexibility: HybridLegal Entity: Entergy Services, LLCThis position can be filled in New Orleans, LA; The Woodlands, TX; Jackson, MS; or Little Rock, ARPOSITION PURPOSE :The Entergy IT Infrastructure Hosting / Cloud Team needs an experienced Senior Consultant who will be primarily responsible for the capacity management and planning of Entergy’s compute and storage infrastructure. The scope of responsibilities also includes a moderate to strong understanding of Entergy’s Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and the effects the BIA has on capabilities around disaster Recovery. This includes physical and virtual compute, storage, backups, restore capabilities and infrastructure lifecycle management. The capacity management responsibilities of this position are focused on the configuration research, design, implementation, refresh, and oversight management of the enterprise compute and storage environments (On-Premise and Cloud). Subject Matter expertise activities can be inclusive of, but not limited to, the design and recovery capabilities of Entergy’s compute and storage hardware, operating systems, security policies. This position is expected to provide oversight and governance into the contracted Service Provider focused on maximizing system availability and minimizing human error through the development, maintenance, and support of Entergy’s IT policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those focused on Capacity Management and Disaster Recovery.This position will be responsible for supporting the innovative development of business solutions, implemented through IT, to enable the business to meet its objectives. A solid understanding of available IT technologies is required to meet the needs of 1) ongoing business unit operations, 2) Entergy’s IT operating model, 3) Service Delivery capabilities, and 4) ongoing business challenges. Together with support from Entergy's internal and external resources and SMEs, this position will be responsible for developing and supporting fully integrated, effective business solutions. As an active thought-leader within the Infrastructure Hosting / Cloud Team, Entergy’s Senior Consultants shape the technology solutions to meet the demands of the business units throughout the corporation.The role is highly visible and will work with multiple stakeholders, spanning across several portfolios, corporate teams, IT groups, and external partners. This role will interact regularly with senior leadership and provide tactical and strategic leadership on multiple levels.Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

Demonstrated ability to lead the creation and execution of enterprise-level guidelines for compute and storage software and hardware integration, capacity planning, performance, reliability, operating, and security designs, and recovery capabilities.

Capture business capability requirements, functional requirements, and expected service levels from business units and defined architectural solutions to create an actionable business-IT roadmap and plan of execution. Identify the integration points of new business solutions with legacy systems to satisfy client business and operational requirements.

Support Service Delivery Managers in identifying opportunities for emerging technologies (e.g., Cloud Computing, Converged Technologies, etc.) designed to enable and advance business strategies. Provide a technical advisory role with the client on the impact(s) of new technologies and processes on their existing technical and information system environment.

Work with BA, PM, and QA teams to review test strategies and requirements traceability. Ensure business and functional requirements are maintained throughout the development/configuration process (requirements traceability matrix). Review and analyze user acceptance testing results. Participate in Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs) to ensure the most critical infrastructure components (Capacity Planning, Disaster recovery, etc.) have been thoroughly vetted and are in scope of the finished products within a project’s deliverables portfolio.

Maintain an understanding of technology needs and solutions for business units throughout the corporation. Periodically visit business units to assess satisfaction and identify follow-up education and improvement opportunities. Consider alternate delivery models for meeting business needs.

Liaise between the client, vendors, project management and the technical/apps teams on questions, issues, and revisions to the solution architecture.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMinimum education required of the positionBachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.Minimum experience required of the position8+ years of experience in IT Operations

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of IT Organizations in areas such as architecture, infrastructure, security, applications, and telecommunications

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of infrastructure capacity planning and disaster recovery
