The Team:We are seeking a Technical Writer to join the DTS Engagement & Communications team to help write and standardize technical communication and documentation globally. The team will be jointly responsible for building and managing a new environment focused on the collation, management, and governance of all DTS communications and documentation that will be used by all colleagues within S&P Global.The Impact:Defining and building this new environment will involve discussions with our technical teams on how they document currently. We’ll seek to understand what they are currently doing, or not doing well, and how we can work with them to improve content creation and colleague awareness through good communication.Helping to define and teach best practices when writing technical documentation, as well as working with teams to build templates to help capture key information in a more effective way will be essential to raising the level of communication and documentation standards leading to a better level of document compliance and greater end-user engagement.What’s in it for you:Working within a global team, you’ll be exposed to technical departments of all communication and documentation proficiencies with an opportunity to educate, influence, and make your mark. We’re at the beginning of an exciting journey to change the way we communicate both internally within DTS as well as with our stakeholders across the entire business and there’s an opportunity to bring ideas and be part of an energetic and exciting team that is ready to explore new technology, automation and try new ideas.Responsibilities: Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver succinct, precise messaging either in a communication or documentation format for the end-user, ensuring that any technology being rolled out is understood and engaged with in order to reach its fullest potential. The role is responsible for creating new communications and documentation in a digital format as well as helping to collate and update existing documentation already in circulation. The scope includes user-oriented instructions and communications for deployment, reference information for technical features, architectural and operational documentation in multiple formats, policy, process, and procedures, in every case working with subject matter experts to gather information. Work with the DTS teams to ensure they are pro-actively communicating what their departments do, how they do it, why they do it, how stakeholders would engage, their policies and processes, etc. Working to keep this information fresh, updated, and interesting will benefit DTS as an organization internally as well as our stakeholders across the entire organization. Communicate effectively with multiple teams in multiple time zones to elicit or clarify requirements, coordinate draft reviews, and obtain signoff. Develop standards and processes for the collation and storage of technical documentation.What We’re Looking For: Communicate proficiently in both written and spoken English. Write communications, articles, user guides, tutorials, and templates for the education of both technical and non-technical colleagues. Deliver quality material in multiple formats depending on the required end delivery mechanism for the content. Have a deep understanding of technical document programs including SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Planner, Confluence, and ServiceNow. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic work environment. US application requires an indefinite right to work in the United States.Qualifications and business competencies: Bachelor's degree in any relevant field, or equivalent knowledge and experience. Technical Communications certificate or experience is desirable. Writing samples are required.Commercial Awareness A background in IT is compulsory. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
