Accounting Manager (Construction)

Description A well-regarded construction company is seeking an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to oversee their financial operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of accounting functions, compliance with industry standards, and providing insights that inform strategic decision-making. The right candidate will have significant experience in construction accounting and earlier experience managing teams.Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the accounting team, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities.

Prepare and review monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

Manage job costing, WIP (work-in-progress) reports, and project-based accounting in alignment with industry standards.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tax requirements.

Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance analysis for construction projects.

Partner with project managers to support financial insights for ongoing and future projects.

Train and mentor accounting staff to encourage professional growth and operational excellence.

Requirements

5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.

Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting.

Experience with accounting software designed for the construction industry (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks Contractor Edition).

Bachelors' degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Strong leadership and communication skills with a problem-solving mindset.
