Accounts Payable Associate/Bookkeeping Assistant

Cookie Crock Market has an immediate opening for an accounts payable associate/bookkeeping assistant with prior experience in an accounting office.

Cookie Crock is Cambria, California’s only grocery store and the longest, continually operating family-owned supermarket on the Central Coast. We’ve been in business since the early 1970’s. Many employees have built long-term careers here, and we're seeking another dedicated team member.

This position will begin as a part-time job but has excellent growth potential for the right person. Come armed with some basic to intermediate skills and we will teach you as we go along.

We’re looking for:

A self-starter who works well independently and has the curiosity and desire to grow with us.

An easy-going person who enjoys working in a team atmosphere, but who can also work quietly and meet deadlines.

Experienced in accounting, bookkeeping and computerized accounting programs.

Ideally, you have1-2 years of bookkeeping experience.

Someone with a good working knowledge of Excel (this is most crucial!) and other MS Office programs.

Analytical and good with numbers with a keen eye for detail.

Someone with excellent communication skills and mature temperament.

Someone with good organizational and prioritization skills.

Someone able to meet weekly deadlines.

A friendly collaborator who will interact with many other employees, managers and vendors.

Accounts Payable includes coding and entering approximately 100 invoices and credits a week, researching invoice discrepancies, monitoring and follow up on outstanding invoices or discrepancies, balancing vendor statements, filing documents and processing a weekly check run of approximately 70 vendor checks.

Bookkeeping includes processing daily sales journals and deposits and making banking deposits. Supporting other accounting staff and performing additional duties as assigned. This is a collaboration between all office staff.
