Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in Modesto, California. This role is in the construction/contractor industry and will involve executing a variety of tasks related to accounts payable and other accounting functions. Responsibilities: Review and process invoices after verifying appropriate documentation and approval Prioritize invoices according to payment terms and cash discount potential Process payments for subcontractors and verify lien releases Handle PO matching invoices with more than 100 line item entries Process check requests and distribute checks after obtaining all necessary signatures Maintain 1099 records and respond to all vendor inquiries Reconcile vendor statements and correct any discrepancies Assist in month-end closing activities Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices Assist with other accounts payable projects as needed. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role within the Construction/Contractor industry Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Windows Vista Experience with accounting functions and data entry Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) procedures and check processing Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Experience with Viewpoint Vista software Knowledge of Form 1099 procedures Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
