THE POSITION: The Director, Cyber Security develops, implements policies and procedures, monitors, and maintains cyber security programs, for the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) and for Alameda County schools; identifies and addresses critical systems and critical digital assets; maintain cyber security attack mitigation and incident response capability; and provides assistance to higher level management as well as oversite and direction to relevant staff. This job reports to the Assigned Administrator.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Lead the development and improvement of security monitoring and incident response processes and solutions as required to support cyber security programs for ACOE and school districts, provide security guidance to staff for the maintenance of cyber security best practices. Provide a coordinated response to complex cyber-attacks; identify threats and develop suitable defense measures, evaluate system changes for security implications, and recommend enhancements; research and draft cyber security white papers. Operate security monitoring and incident response tool sets with a focus on continuous improvement; monitor for attacks, intrusions, vulnerabilities, and risks with systems and networks. Research, recommend and deploy solutions for incident response and digital forensics. Review equipment, material, hardware, time and cost requirements for cybersecurity solutions; contact vendors and contractors to request pricing and product information. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Experience: Three (3) years related experience, which includes a minimum of two (2) years network systems security, design and/or configuration preferred. Equivalency: Any combination of education, training and job-related experience equivalent to the above qualifications.

Candidates must attain a minimum score of 70% on all scored examinations and this eligibility list is valid for 6 months.
