The ADAS team is currently seeking a Senior Hardware Electrical Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional with a background in automotive sensor and/or ECU electronics design from OEMs or Tier 1 and having a track record of successfully bringing new automotive ADAS and AD hardware systems into production.

  • Lead the design of Lucid's next generation sensor and/or computing platform hardware from electronics and electrical aspects
  • Be responsible for the design of the sensor and/or computing platform hardware, and the production deployment
  • Drive the concept design, prototyping, engineering, testing, release and launch of a cutting-edge compute platform and related ECUs for Autonomous Driving and ADAS features while meeting cost, efficiency, reliability, and safety goals
  • Perform design feasibility studies with partners and suppliers
  • Support system level high speed serial interface and memory interface signal integrity design and validation
  • Lead the validation of signal integrity and power integrity
  • Work with cross functional teams to design, verify, and bring up the electrical distribution framework and the wiring harness systems
  • Support validation teams to complete bench and vehicle level durability, electromagnetic compatibility, etc. for regulatory compliance
  • Ensure hardware performance is achieved successfully when integrated on bench and in vehicle
  • Troubleshoot and root cause, document, and drive to issue resolution
  • Participate in design review and xFMEA meetings to ensure lessons learned and best practices are incorporated
  • Lead rapid prototype system development in an efficient manner to show proof of concept
  • Contribute to the timely delivery of fully validated, high-quality product
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure good communication to achieve a seamless and robust vehicle implementation
  • Work closely with manufacturing/suppliers to ensure bring up success and diagnostics tools are developed for production deployment and service
  • Drive best practices within the team and deploy world class tools, invent and create new technologies and solutions
Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of bringing automotive sensor and/or computing platform electronics design into production
  • Demonstrated experience as a visionary, yet detail oriented automotive ECU hardware engineer
  • Extensive knowledge in EE fundamentals and project experience developing reliable and efficient critical electronics hardware (including sensors and computing platform)
  • Profound knowledge of ADAS and/or Autonomous Driving systems and demonstrated track record of technical excellence
  • Capable of complete schematic design and review for electrical components connectivity
  • Experience in supporting BOM definition that has reasonable requirements for performance, cost, efficiency, manufacturability, etc.
  • Knowledge communication interfaces and standards related to automotive industry.
  • Experience in managing and sourcing electrical board design, layout, fabrication, component populations
  • Experience in component and system integration, testing and verification on system and vehicle level
  • Experience in generating test plans that match with production milestone and able to execute the tests to fulfill feature deployment requirements
  • Experience in hardware troubleshooting from electrical/electronics standpoint
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards including ISO, IEC, ASPICE, and other regulations, industry benchmarks and customer requirements
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, embedded software, platform team, program management, and manufacturing teams

Advantageous:
  • Previous project experience from automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier
  • Previous experience with ADAS customer functions and/or HMI/Infotainment systems at a Tier-1 or OEM
  • Experience in PCB layout design and component selection through all design phases
  • Familiar with PCB and electronics manufacturing testing such as inline, IQC, EOL, burn-in, etc., and reliability test such as shock and vibration, thermal and humidity, corrosion, etc.
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C, CANoe, or equivalent tools for modeling, diagnostics and analysis
  • Experience in using common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, calibration tools, basic EE tools, etc.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards including ISO, IEC, ASPICE, and other regulations, industry benchmarks and customer requirements

Educational Requirements:
  • BS minimum in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or other related fields
  • Higher degrees preferred
  • At least 3 years of work experience in related position, ideally in the automotive field
