This is a one year contract appointment position with the possibility of additional year contract appointment extensions. Per the University of California (UC) recruitment policy, because this position has undergone competitive recruitment, this position can be converted to career status any time after hire, as conversion meets criteria set by UC recruitment policy and the needs of the Office of Information Technology department.

Position Summary:

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University. As part of OIT, Chancellor & Provost IT (CPIT) delivers application solutions to help our executive-level customers streamline operations through custom workflows, collaboration tools, and online communication platforms.

The successful candidate will join an Agile team that builds and supports software for several offices on the UCI campus. Develop and enhance enterprise web applications using ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, Vue.js, Bootstrap, and other languages. Plan, design, code, test, deploy, and maintain these web applications and supporting processes. Integrate with other campus systems and vendor applications.

Required:
  • Four (4) or more years of web application development using ASP.NET MVC or .NET Core Four (4) or more years of database development in SQL Server or a similar RDBMS Four (4) or more years of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and jQuery Experience with Vue.js, React, or a comparable JavaScript web framework.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and Web Services.
  • Experience using git version control.
  • Experience working directly with end users and customers.
  • Experience working with an on-site, remote, and hybrid team
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Intermediate knowledge of secure software development.
  • Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation, and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Thorough experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums. Demonstrated software repository skills using git.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills, including automated unit, integration, and functional tests.
  • Thorough experience with common programming tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization, including team, management, and customers.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of an Agile Scrum team.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated broad problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy ASP.NET MVC applications
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy database solutions in SQL Server.
