Job Title: Art & Production Assistant

Location: Oceanside, California

Employment Type: Freelance

Compensation: $25/hour

Reports To: Lead Artist / Studio Director

We are seeking a highly organized and creative Art & Production Assistant to support the daily operations of a fast-paced contemporary art studio. This freelance role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, detail-oriented environment and is excited to contribute to the production of artwork, installations, and exhibitions. You will work closely with the artist and studio team to bring ideas to life—from material sourcing to fabrication, from studio organization to on-site execution.

Key Responsibilities:

-Studio & Production Support

-Assist with the fabrication and production of artworks, including painting, sculptural elements, installations, and mixed media

-Source and procure materials, tools, and supplies

-Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked studio environment

Project Coordination:

-Support the artist in managing production timelines and calendars

-Prepare artworks for photography, crating, shipping, or exhibition

-Assist with artwork documentation, labeling, and inventory tracking

Exhibition & Installation

-Assist in the packing, transport, and installation of artworks for shows or collector acquisition

Support in setting up studio visits

Qualifications:

-Experience in a studio or production environment preferred

-Skilled with hand tools, power tools, or light fabrication

-Excellent organizational and time-management skills

-Background in Fine Art, Design, Production, or a related field

-Comfortable working independently and following prescriptive notes

-Attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic

-Ability to lift and move large canvases and paint safely (artwork, supplies, etc.)

Bonus: familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Notion, and Google Workspace
