Find your future with us.The Boeing Metrology And Test Equipment Services (MATES) organization is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Metrology Test & Evaluation Engineer to support Metrology operations at our El Segundo, CA site. This is a great opportunity that will involve working alongside local and virtual MATES personnel in an effort to sustain Metrology operations at the El Segundo site. The initial focus will revolve heavily to support the Space & Launch programs across El Segundo, to provide onsite calibration solutions, reliability analysis assessments for M&TE, seek engagement with local business partners (customers), to help expand efforts to standardize processes and best practices across the broader MATES Enterprise and ensuring compliance to AS9100.Metrology And Test Equipment Services (MATES) provides a full spectrum of test asset and metrology services and support for internal customers and products through all phases of the product lifecycle. Services include: calibration/certification for DC Low Freq electrical/electronic, RF/uWave, and mechanical/physical, dimensional/optics measurement and test assets, sourcing management, measurement solutions, repair & maintenance, test asset selection and use, acquisition, allocation, resource and lifecycle management, and specialized test services.MATES is comprised of engineers, technicians and administrative personnel who support programs, sites, business units and external/government customers by providing best value test asset management and metrology services through all phases of the product lifecycle.What is metrology? Metrology is the science of measurement. MATES is responsible for establishing an unbroken chain of measurement traceability from the point of application to internationally recognized standards, quantities, values or reference materials. Applied metrology at Boeing ensures that measurement standards, materials or equipment used to apply or determine measurement quantities are defined, repeatable, reproducible and traceable.This position is primarily 1st shift; however, periodic shift change may be required to support program objectivesPosition Responsibilities:

Apply core Metrology Engineering concepts such as: uncertainty analysis, reliability analysis, interval analysis, new measurement techniques, and specification interpretation

Engage with Business Partners (Customers) & MATES technical communities to identify and establish calibration processes

Dissect the customer requirements in order to translate them into metrology specifications that can be used to develop calibration processes and the corresponding procedures

Aid with the calibration and certification of tools and measurement and test equipment

Support maintenance of the calibration system

Supports maintenance of reference standards traceability, calibration procedures and software

Develop solutions to emergent requirements during day-to-day activities

Institute AS9100 compliance, knowledge sharing and sustainment

Oversight of Safety & Quality systems

Support Metrology process knowledge sharing, both within the organization and with the business partners

Coach and mentor technicians & junior engineers in their development

Use appropriate tools, processes and procedures

Design/develop calibration system/test fixtures, data processing tools, and algorithms

Author calibration procedures and conduct measurement uncertainty evaluations

Use established Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) method and techniques to apply lessons learned to the improvement of test procedures/methodologies

Conduct calibration data validation using established Metrology practices and procedures

Develop project plans using the principles of project management and performance goals

Provide general project supervision and define, negotiate, and control the scope, cost, and timing of projects, including performance of risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, and resource allocation)

Gather and analyze requirements for measurement and test equipment calibration

Evaluate and prepare Metrology lab M&TE procurement justification packages

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

1+ years of experience in Metrology and/or measurement science

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

1+ years of experience in metrology or calibration/certification

1+ years of experience developing and executing test procedures

1+ years of experience performing statistical analysis

1+ years of experience in project management

1+ years of experience using any of the following Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE): Temperature & humidity freezers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers and power meters

Experience with calibration automation software. Examples: Fluke MetTeam & Fluke MetCal, Keysight TME

Experience with care and maintenance of Metrology lab M&TE (i.e. torque tools, DC/ Low frequency and RF/uWave measurement devices, etc.)

Experience communicating with customers in a clear and concise manner about technical details of a calibration process

Experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft office applications

Experienced with DC Low Frequency M&TE Calibrations

Familiarity with RF/uWave M&TE Calibrations

Familiarity with the various Automation Calibration Software such as Metcal, Keysight TME, and SureCal.

Experience with use of an automated calibration recall system

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
