Audio Engineering Manager: BSEE or acoustics, consumer electronics w/ hands on 2-way (speaker & microphone) audio w/ echo cancellation; camera a + Our Hardware team is seeking an Audio Engineering Manager with at least 10 years' experience in audio design of consumer or portable products. We are looking for a self-starter. Someone able to get advanced engineering projects done and dig into any audio related technical issue and drive resolution, working with other teams as needed. We need someone that has experience working with and managing external design partners (you'd be working w/ an ODM in Taiwan & R&D in Vietnam).

Responsibilities:
  • Drive audio & acoustic architecture design, both electrical and acoustic/mechanical.
  • Work with the mechanical design team, audio component vendors, and design partners (ODM).
  • Create product-level audio technical specifications (performance, function) for design partners
  • Supervise ODMs' audio engineering activities, such as schematics and PCB layout, acoustic design, engineering test planning, and review test results.
  • Supervise ODMs' factory test planning and review test station data.
  • Drive creation of internal audio engineering validation plans, drive test execution, review results.
  • Use, maintain, and enhance existing test automation systems and data/signal processing software
  • Be the spokesperson for audio engineering, reporting status, collaborating with other internal teams
  • Perform some of the product level validation as necessary.
  • Drive resolution of issues in a timely manner, digging into details as far as necessary.
  • Specify/prototype/test audio signal processing firmware features with either internal teams or external vendors
  • International travel required, such as to ODMs' R&D facilities or factories.

Qualifications
  • BSEE or BS, Acoustics required.
  • MS is a plus
  • Extensive consumer electronics experience (10+ years preferred)
  • Extensive, hands-on, audio design experience, from an acoustics, signal processing and electrical engineering standpoint. (5-10+ years)
  • Must have released multiple products to mass production, including products with simultaneous, two-way (speaker and microphone) audio with echo cancellation.
  • Extensive experience with acoustic echo cancellation technologies and implementation
  • Experience in camera design (w/ two-way: speaker & microphone) audio and echo cancellation is a big plus.
  • Proficient at document/specification writing, technical analysis, simulation and modelling, test planning, and task planning.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is a plus, but not required
  • Requires international travel a few times a year.
