Avocado Farm Helper

Looking for a reliable, hardworking and driven individual to help in an avocado farm. Prior outdoor work experience in ranch, vineyards, nursery, or similar settings is a plus. Must enjoy working outdoors, where the temperature can reach 100+ on hot summer days. Must be able to follow directions, and work independently regularly.

The immediate work involves

Maintaining grounds (weeding, mulching, pruning)

Plant new trees (clearing digging, planting)

Pest control (rabbits, snaks, squirrels, gophers, ants, snails)

Maintaining irrigation lines

Establishing seed propagation areas

Staking young trees for wind protection

Fertilizing, compost tea preparation

Fencing, and light construction activities

Pest control (rabbits, snakes, squirrels, gophers, ants, snails)

Ranch handyman repairs

Minimum qualifications

Very reliable, and clear communicator

Ability to learn and adapt to ongoing organic best practices

Good organization and attention to details

Able to follow directions, and work alone in the fields regularly

Self motivated to finish tasks safely and promptly

Must speak fluent English (written and speaking)

Able to maintain daily work logs using phones and computer

Respectful of the farm, equipment and property

Generally fit and capable of lifting at least 60 lbs easily on slopes / outdoor

Good vision to identify crops and pests, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel to complete tasks on a daily basis

Have reliable transportation

Must have a valid California driving license, and clean records

This position can be a wonderful opportunity for someone who is not afraid of the intense outdoor work involved in establishing the various regenerative farm practices, and who has interest in growing and learning with the workings of the farm. For the right individual this position can transition into a full time Farm Production Foreperson role.

Hours: 30-40 hours per week Monday to Friday

Pay: $20 per hour
