Title: AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer (AWS Migration Project)

SCOPE: Our client is the leading manufacturer of fiber optic communications system solutions for voice, data and video network applications worldwide. They are embarking on a project to move their software development environment into an AWS cloud environment. They have software development centers around the world and their goal is to decrease the dependency on the Milpitas location, and to ensure remote sites can work, in the event the Milpitas site is off-line. Their current build environment is hosted at the Milpitas location and serves their developers located across the globe. This causes productivity disruption and revenue impact when this environment goes down due to power outage, network outage or hardware issues. This specific group has a product that is hosted in 2 AWS datacenters. They have a sandbox and production environment setup, and to push to production they use Terraform. The project will involve two phases. Phase 1 will be the planning and prototype phase. Phase 2 will be the implementation and migration phase. They are looking for an AWS Cloud consultant to help with phase 1 initially, and optionally with phase 2.

They are looking for an AWS Solutions Architect/Devops Engineer who has strong experience with various AWS services (VPC, EC2, S3, Load Balancing within AWS, etc.), Terraform, Ansible, Git, CI/CD (Ideally Jenkins). Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) would be a bonus. The Engineers are Python developers, so any Python experience would be a bonus.

PHASE 1:• Work with other subject matter experts to develop the high-level plan to migrate key servers and services into AWS• Develop proof-of-concept prototypes as needed.• Understand the total cost of ownership for the AWS cloud migration (initial cost, as well as on-going cost). • Include the appropriate security measures in the plan.• Consider performance of the system as part of the plan.• Include an IP network design which supports use-cases. • Develop the migration plan from on-prem servers to AWS cloud.

PHASE 2:• Work with the DevOps group to implement the AWS cloud migration plan developed in Phase 1.• Help with task automation as needed.• Develop cloud policies and procedure for the day-to-day maintenance of the cloud network.• Work with the DevOps group to put these policies and procedures into practice.

MUSTS/SKILLS:• Bachelor's Degree Required• Senior AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer (VPC, EC2, S3, Load Balancing within AWS, etc.)• AWS migration best practices (cloud security, cost optimization, migration plans, etc.)• Terraform skills• Ansible (They just started using Ansible)• Experience in CI/CD build process (Ideally Jenkins) • Experience with revision control (Ideally Git, as they are moving away from SVN and going to Git)• Linux

BONUS:• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional• Python development• Experience with containers (Docker/Kubernetes)
