Position Summary: The Packaging Supervisor oversees the daily shift operations required for the performance of bottling, warehousing, and logistics at Woodbridge Winery in Acampo, CA. This role also acts as the onsite maintenance lead for all production and operations equipment. The ideal candidate will balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on leadership to ensure the company’s goals are met through continuous improvement, reduced downtime, and optimized processes. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, this position helps develop, maintain, and execute bottling and shipment schedules and output plans while motivating the operations teams to achieve these goals. The supervisor will spend approximately 70% of their time on the floor, fostering a positive work environment through accountability, clear communication, and relationship-building.
Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Oversee daily Bottling, Operations to ensure performance goals are met efficiently. Follow Escalation Protocols, and SOPs as they pertain to the Supervisor Position.
Support the Maintenance team, addressing/supporting the repairs and preventive maintenance.
Support the Warehouse Team, in all matters of escalation as needed by the team.
Spend approximately 70% of time on the floor providing hands-on leadership and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Quality Assurance:
Enforce quality control standards throughout the bottling and warehousing process to ensure adherence to company specifications.
Perform routine inspections to maintain product integrity and prevent defects.
Collaborate with the quality team to address any deviations or product concerns.
Staff Supervision and Training:
Oversee approximately 45 employees, including foremen, ensuring optimal team performance and morale.
Manage employee timecards, time punches, and PTO requests accurately and efficiently.
Motivate and guide operations teams to meet schedules and output plans while fostering accountability.
Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to team members, promoting professional growth and a positive team environment.
Continuous Improvement Projects:
Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste minimization, and process optimization within bottling, warehousing, and logistics.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain improvement initiatives.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all bottling, warehousing, and logistics operations comply with safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for team members.
Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in production and warehouse areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of experience in beverage alcohol industry operations or production.
3+ years of experience in maintenance of bottling equipment.
Strong data analytics skills to analyze and improve operations.
Creative problem-solver with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
Solid understanding of SAP and Warehouse Management Systems.
Strong leadership and people development skills to foster team growth and success. Previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a winery, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
Knowledge of bottling operations, warehousing, logistics, and production equipment.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing large teams.
Proficiency in managing timecards, PTO, scheduling, and team performance.
Experience leading continuous improvement projects, with knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to foster a positive team environment and collaborate with stakeholders.
Commitment to spending significant time on the floor (approximately 70%) to provide hands-on leadership.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods and work on a computer for extended periods.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
Comfortable working in warm or cold climates.
Must be able to work in high places, on wet surfaces, and near moving mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
Exposed to loud noise, fumes, and/or toxic chemicals.
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
Capable of lifting to 50 pounds.

The salary range for this role is:
$78,800.00 - $118,200.00
