Located on the beautiful campus of the Pacifica Graduate Institute, the Graduate Research Library is a small to mid-sized academic library dedicated to supporting the scholarly pursuits of our diverse academic community. The library holds special collections in Jungian, archetypal, and psychoanalytic psychologies, along with interdisciplinary collections in mythology, folklore, and religious studies. POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cataloging Specialist to join our academic library team. The Cataloging Specialist is responsible for copy cataloging materials in various formats using our Integrated Library System (Koha) and OCLC services. This role is crucial for ensuring that our library's collections are easily accessible and discoverable to our users. The position also involves occasional support of circulation and reference services. The Cataloging Specialist will conform to institutional policies and procedures and adhere to diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform enhanced copy cataloging in all formats using the Koha integrated library system and OCLC services.

Perform original cataloging of Pacifica master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

Ensure bibliographic records are accurate, comprehensive, and adhere to national and international standards (e.g., MARC21, RDA, LCSH).

Perform authority control and manage metadata for digital collections.

Resolve cataloging discrepancies and errors.

Stay current with cataloging practices, tools, and technologies.

Willingness to work on Saturdays or Sundays and to provide circulation support.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated skill in current cataloging standards (MARC21, AACR2R, RDA, LC Classification, LCSH).

Proven experience with the OCLC WorldCat database, Connexion software and MarcEdit.

Proficiency in the use of an integrated library system (preferably KOHA).

Demonstrated experience developing clear and concise cataloging documentation and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred

Completion of a library technician certificate or diploma program with courses in cataloging, classification, and metadata creation. Preferred

Minimum of 1 year cataloging experience in an academic library.

PC literate; MS Office (including Word and Excel)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Sometimes required to sit, climb and/or balance and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Close range vision and ability to lift 20 lbs.

Pay Range: $23-$26/hour

Hours: Full-time/Part-time
