Chef de Cuisine – The Altamont General Store, Occidental, CA

The Altamont General Store, a community-driven café and marketplace in West Sonoma County, is seeking an experienced Chef de Cuisine to lead its kitchen. We're a growing family-run business focused on innovative, farm-to-table comfort food with a Hawaiian twist. We’re looking for someone ready to take ownership as we expand into our fifth year of operation with the addition of an outdoor beer garden.

A passionate, creative chef with experience in menu development, staff training, and kitchen management.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach a growing team.

A commitment to high-quality, consistent, and beautifully presented dishes.

A love for vegetable-forward cooking and an innovative approach to fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Key Responsibilities:

-Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring quality and safety standards.

-Manage and develop kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient team environment.

-Lead menu planning and development, from sourcing ingredients to recipe execution.

-Handle ordering and inventory, as well as maintain cleanliness and organization.

Requirements:

-Proven leadership and kitchen management experience.

-Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

-Valid California Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain).

-Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

-Basic computer skills.

-English language proficiency. Spanish language proficiency is a bonus but not a requirement.
