The expectation for this position is to start and end at the hatchery, unless otherwise directed by management. Loading and Unloading Animals- Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient loading of chicks at the Hatchery, loading and unloading Moffett on and off trailer, unloading chicks from trailer using the Moffett at a Perdue or contract grower Farm or Facility. When Moffett equipment not available, driver will need to pull stacks of chicks to back of truck for unloading. Disperse Animals- Driver will work with Live Operations associates to disperse animals in barn using Moffett. Once complete the empty trays are loaded with Moffett in trailer. Driver is responsible for cleaning trailer before and after use and as needed. Driver is expected to always perform above duties in a safe and professional manner as he/she is a representative of the Perdue Brand.Days of work: Will be required to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; and Saturday or Sunday based on load assignments and company requirements.Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maneuver and deliver/backhaul truckloads of animals, product and materials to Perdue facilities, farms, plants,
customers, and distributors as assigned. Perform proper Pre- and Post-Trip of Chick Delivery Trailer to protect Animal Welfare.
Observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding hours of service, logbook, vehicle inspections, load inspections, and securing load. To include utilizing electronic logging device (paper logs when needed), on board vehicle tracking system in efficient manner.
Operate a tractor and trailer in a legal/safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies. To include the utilization of all on board safety features.
Complete and submit all Company paperwork to include but not limited to manifest, bill of lading, proof of delivery pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reports.
Complete the physical process of loading and unloading animals, Moffett, trays, or product on and off trailer.
Complete the physical process of unloading animals at farm using the Moffett to disperse animals into barns.
Complete the physical process of cleaning trailer and/or trays before and after use and as needed to Company requirements.
Responsible for seal integrity and the reporting of an accurate /verified case count and condition of product and/or animals during deliveries.
Minimum EducationValid CDL LicenseHigh School Graduate or GEDExperience RequirementsREQUIRED:· Valid Class A CDL License.· Minimum Two years over the road Tractor/Trailer driving experience with Smithway“chick delivery” and/or refrigerated trailers preferred.OROne Year over the road driving experience with degree from accredited driving school.Experience PreferredStrong communication skills.Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to drive a tractor with a trailer.
Able to remain seated for extended periods of time up to the limits established by DOT regulations.
Able to withstand bouncing and vibration from truck and road conditions.
Able to lift boxes up to 100 pounds to load/unload animals and products.
Able to operate, load, and unload Moffett.
Exposed to dust, animal excrement, pollen, and other allergens.
Exposed to fuel and oil spills and other chemicals.
Exposed to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0-100%) and noise (50db to 100 db)
Required to travel to customers, distributors, company facilities, farms and other remote locations and may remain away from for home for a period of time.
