Church Music Leader

Field of Hope United Church of Christ, formerly Elk Grove United Church of Christ is seeking a Music Leader. The Music Leader will lead singing and play for the music portions of the Sunday worship service, in communication with and under the direct supervision of the pastors.

Terms of Employment:

Days: 3 Sunday mornings per month

Hours: 2 hours per Sunday plus 1 hour preparation time and 1⁄2 hour meeting time

Salary: $150 per Sunday (includes prep and meeting time)

Qualifications:

able to read music well and understand basic music theory

able to sing accurately and confidently while leading singing

knowledge of Christian music: praise songs, traditional hymns, contemporary music

able to play keyboard/piano well, playing from sheet music and reading chords

able to accompany singing while playing guitar, preferred but not required

previous experience leading singing in a church setting

college-level coursework in music, preferred but not required

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead congregational singing while playing keyboard /piano or guitar for the music portions of worship: songs, hymns, responses

Sing the melody line on songs, hymns, and responses while playing piano or guitar

Meet with pastors for 30 minutes a week, in person or on Zoom. Note: Music will be selected and provided by pastors in advance.
