Job Description

Exelixis has newly formed the Digital Transformation (DT) function to effectively support Exelixis’ rapid growth which is expected in the next 3 to 5 years. To support business functions in process simplification, automation and data-driven decision making, DT is introducing relevant technology products. DT products will aid in sustaining both organic and inorganic growth of Exelixis, increasing operational complexity of additional product launches, indications, capabilities, and geographies.

As Exelixis Commercial business function prepares on a cross-functional Integrated Customer Engagement initiative, DT’s Commercial technologies group has an immediate need to hire an experienced business technology leader to enable our Field for Sales and MSL. In this position, you will act as a strategic technology partner that will enable and execute the modern-day customer interactions virtually or F2F (i.e. free text, chat, approved emails and digital) by partnering with Sales Operation and MSL group to implement technology to meet strategic goals and priorities.

The Director role will actively participate in epics, sprints planning with key stakeholders to determine scope, nature of business requirements and priorities to consider for the successful outcome. This leader will also bring thought leadership on Commercial business domain construct with careful consideration of architecture standards, technical reliability, compliance, and security aspects of solution. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in identification, evaluation, selection, implementation, ongoing administration and improvement of Commercial and Field enabling products, platforms, and procedures.

The ideal technology leader with a strong techno-functional background to lead field enablement and operations product engineering strategy, design, developing solutions by collaborating with functional business owners, Data and Analytics, Quality Engineering, other business stakeholders and external partners.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Partners with leadership (Sales, Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSLs), Commercial Operations) to define business process and technology needs. Contribute and lead in developing, prioritizing and facilitating key Sales and MSL activities and strategic initiatives by providing technical and operational subject matter expertise, including partnering with key stakeholders to understand tracking/reporting requirements and leveraging technology to meet those needs. Manage all aspects product delivery of Veeva CRM ecosystem of Sales and MSL field team, and reporting solutions, including territory management, account alignments, survey deployment, MIRF tracking, troubleshooting, development of new functionality. Conduct baseline assessments of field enablement (Sales and MSL) capabilities, processes, and systems to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement to achieve operational excellence and gain efficiencies. Collaborates closely with data and analytics team to deliver on a variety of CRM inbound/outbound integrations and fulfilling reporting and sales analytics dashboards. Work cross-functionally with the Master Data Management team to ensure business processes and technologies have reliable and current data. Ensure efficient functioning of existing systems: user management, system administration, issue resolution, systems / data integrations, data privacy, contribute to the design, manage the design, development, testing and roll-out of new features or systems on DT commercial initiatives. Effectively manages initiative scope, timelines, and ongoing releases of CRM platform and sales operations system activities. Contribute and as required lead the product launch with system and platform readiness supporting the Sales operations and field. Builds, test and deploys features, enhancements, and bug fixes in Veeva CRM and field enablement platform ecosystem. Leads and supports field enablement projects including management of third-party vendors / contractors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:Education: Bachelors degree in related discipline + twelve years of related experience; or Masters degree in related discipline and ten years of related experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in an IT leadership role at the intersection of strategy, architecture and applying advanced cloud based technologies to large / complex business problems Minimum 6 years experience working with Veeva CRM solution, SalesForce and Veeva Vault is required. 5+ years experience within Sales, Sales operations and MSL function is required. Experience is required in managing a DevOps team in the areas of Cloud based platform, environment, and release management. Experience with Agile development methodologies is required. Experience in partnering with IT, Commercial and Medical Scientific Liaison on CRM development, support and operations using industry leading tools and technologies Experience in communicating business reporting requirements to Data and Analytics team partners

Knowledge/Skills: Requires deep understanding of business processes related to Commercial Operations, Sales, Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL), Field based Sales, Marketing, and Market access groups. Proven track record in leading and supporting CRM transformation and build across business functions Familiarity with a range of products and platforms such as AWS, Informatica, Tableau and Incentive Compensation administration solutions Understanding of Visual Force Pages, Process Builders, Lightning Components, APEX, SOAP/REST/Bulk APIs, Third Party ETL and real-time integration tools, Salesforce Connect, etc Demonstrated experience with data integration, analytics and customer mastering principles Demonstrated ability to participate with business in launching technologies to support product launches, deliver large, complex, programs involving system and process reengineering and integration. Proven ability to collaborate with senior functional leaders to set vision, drive innovation and facilitate transformation to meet evolving business needs and priorities. Interpersonal skills: Excellent presentation skills, with the visual story telling ability to communicate effectively with management and cross functionally, and to establish collaborative relationships. Applies strong analytical and business communication skills.
